🌍 Africa is home to more than 16% of the world’s population, and this is set to rise exponentially. So how can we make sure our cities are fit for the future? In 2022, WorldGBC’s Africa Regional Network of Green Building Councils (GBCs) collaborated to develop the ‘Africa Manifesto for Sustainable Cities and the Built Environment’ to drive change in the region. Fast forward two years and African GBCs are collaborating again and continuing to drive change. Green Building Council Nigeria (GBC Nigeria) and Egypt Green Building Council (Egypt GBC) are participating in a programme to help develop their country’s climate action plans using our #NDC Scorecard. 🇳🇬 GBC Nigeria hosted its second workshop in November to meet with industry stakeholders, gather insights, analyse the results, and refine them for use by creating an NDC Scorecard. 🇪🇬 Egypt GBC hosted its first conference from 9—10 December which was attended by more than 200 participants from various built environment stakeholder groups in the region with a specific panel on the NDC Scorecard project. WorldGBC’s NDC Scorecard tool will allow policymakers to review their country’s NDC and reveal where further action is necessary on the built environment.
