NCFRMI, NALDA Partner to improve IDPs’ livelihood Through The Renewed Hope Restoration Project (RHRR) A part of NCFRMI’s durable solutions strategy for economic reliability, poverty alleviation and financial empowerment for Internally Displaced Persons, The National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons NCFRMI in collaboration with the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding to improve IDPs’ livelihood through the Renewed Hope Restoration Project (RHRR). The Hon. Federal Commissioner of NCFRMI Hon. Tijani Ahmed said the meeting marked a new beginning in the quest to providing sustainable solutions to IDPs in Nigeria. He noted that the initiative was in tune with President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda. The Federal Commissioner also urged the general public to join hands together to make this project a huge success both for the Internally Displaced Persons, host communities and the rest of Nigerians. The Executive Secretary, NALDA, Mr cornelius Adebayo, said the MoU aimed to address the challenges faced by refugees, migrants, and IDPs. He further explained that the partnership aimed to provide physical seeds, tools, resources, and opportunities needed for self-reliance and hope restoration. The Hon. Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, represented by Mr Valentine Ezulu, Director, Humanitarian Affairs of the Ministry. while commend both organizations, emphasizing that the Ministry would continue to support any initiative geared towards vulnerable persons improvement. You may recalled that the REHAEPI agricultural empowerment project which was launched on July 27, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security is yielding fruits, a total of 500 hectares of land was cultivated by 1000 IDPs and refugee farmers in Nasarawa, Plateau, and Borno states.

After an insightful week of engagements with the ICMPD Secretariat, NCFRMI, alongside sister government ministries and agencies in the humanitarian and migration sectors, has solidified its commitment to the Rabat Process as Nigeria assumes its chairmanship for 2025-2026. ICMPD handed over key documents outlining roles, responsibilities, and guiding activities for Nigeria's leadership. Their pledge of 100% support will ensure a fruitful chairmanship ahead. Cultural Exchange: NCFRMI presented African attires and bracelets as a warm farewell gesture to the delegation before the next meeting in Portugal. This milestone reflects our shared dedication to fostering impactful Euro-African partnerships, promoting regular migration, and addressing global migration challenges. 👀 Get first-hand insights into the preparations for the forthcoming Nigerian Chairmanship of the Rabat Process! This project is to enhance employability, Gender equality, reduce the risk of illegal migration and strengthen Integration amongst unemployed Returnees and refugees. #SORENID will closely work and support beneficiaries from #Cure #Nigeria, #National #Commission #for #Refugees, #Migrants and #IDPs, #TAF #Africa, #Pastor's #Widows #Group, #Christian #Association of #Nigeria and #the #Nigerian #Council #for #Muslim #Affairs . This paid internship training is to support the recovery of 30 unskilled youths in 2batches which includes (Refugees, GBV survivors, Returning Citizens, and unemployed youths in the society) with the knowledge of Bead Making and Fashion Designing. Earlier on the 19th of September, I had the immense honor of moderating and officially hosting, for the first time in Lagos, the Quarterly Meeting of the Working Group on Return, Readmission, and Reintegration (WGRRR). This platform brings together national stakeholders dedicated to delivering crucial return, readmission, and reintegration services for returned migrants and is coordinated by the National Commission for Refugees Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI). It was a distinct privilege to have the Honourable Federal Commissioner, Hon. Tijjani Aliyu Ahmed , formally open the two-day meeting. The recommendations and resolutions from these meetings are vital as they continue to shape a positive and impactful course toward sustainable reintegration for returned migrants nationwide. As the Southwest Zonal Coordinator of the NCFRMI, I am excited about the outcomes and further steps we’ll take in addressing reintegration challenges and supporting the successful return of migrants to their communities, as the hosting of the WGRRR in Lagos has gone a long way in strengthening collaboration with local actors and securing the buy-in of state government MDAs. #Migration #Reintegration #Collaboration #StakeholderEngagement #SustainableDevelopment #ImpactfulChange #NCFRMI

This week, 40 new facilitators from Mushin LGA are being trained to keep the conversation going. Nigeria Hunger Crisis; Honourable Federal Commissioner, NCFRMI launches creative way to improve Food Security to Persons of Concerns, as Ramadan Begins. In response to the hunger crisis in Nigeria and with the impending arrival of holy Month of Ramadan, the Honourable Federal Commissioner of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) has launched a creative initiative aimed at improving food security for Persons of Concerns (POCs). The Federal Commissioner paid a courtesy visit to Governor Dikko Umar Radda at Government House Katsina, informing The Governor of the commission’s mission to distribute food items to approximately 700 displaced individuals and enroll them in insurance schemes to address health challenges. The commissioner also outlined the commission’s plan to construct three skill acquisition centers across the northeast using the 2024/2025 budget. Gov Dikko Radda commended the commission’s initiative, emphasizing the joint responsibility of state and federal governments to ensure the well-being of internally displaced persons (IDPs). Hon. Aliyu Tijani Ahmed also visited the Emir’s palace in Katsina. There, he acknowledged the recent surge in security challenges, particularly in areas vital to the state’s food production. The Emir Dr. Abdulmumin Kabir Usman expressed gratitude for the commission’s efforts and support. The food distribution, which commenced at the Old Government House in Katsina State, will extend to all local government areas, benefiting 700 households in the first phase. During the flag-off ceremony, Deputy Governor Farouk Jobe urged recipients of the package to utilize it wisely to enhance their living standards.
