    Drone Regulatory & Compliance Consultant

Last week, I had the privilege of leading the UAS-SAF course for the Hungarian Defence Forces on behalf of EUROCONTROL and AirHub in Budapest — a truly great experience with a full class of 16 engaged and motivated participants. The diverse perspectives in the room gave meaningful discussions, making it a rewarding learning environment for everyone involved. The course focused on EU Regulations 2019/947 and 2019/945, which establish a risk-based framework for UAS operations, and the Specific Operations Risk Assessment (SORA) methodology for evaluating ground and air risks. We explored: ✅ Key subcategories of EU Regulation 2019/947. ✅ Core concepts and practical applications of SORA. ✅ Reviewing drone operator applications with a focus on risks and mitigation. A big thank you to the Hungarian Defence Forces for their enthusiasm and engagement — it was a pleasure to lead this course and exchange ideas with such engaged participants. #UAS #SORA #Hungary

  • AirHub Consultancy provides training at Polish Air Navigation Services Agency This week, our U-space Expert Toby Enzerink, on behalf of EUROCONTROL, delivered another UAS-ATM training session. This time, not at the Aviation Learning Center in Luxembourg, but in Poland. At the headquarters of PANSA in Warsaw, 20 participants from the PANSA UAS team explored the challenges of integrating UAS into the airspace. Engaging discussions arose around the implementation process of U-space airspace, the potential architecture, and the challenges surrounding certification. The training was further enriched by several guest speakers: • Michiel Froling from AirHub’s software department, demonstrated the AirHub Drone Operations Center with a live demo using our DJI Dock 2. • Robin Provilij provided valuable insights into gathering data and creating GIS files to improve the quality of U-space Airspace Risk Assessments. • Lastly, Tom Rehwinkel from Matternet showcased how Matternet is already operating BVLOS flights over urban environments in Zurich. Next year, another UAS-ATM course will be hosted in Luxembourg. Interested? Contact us for more information!

Hardware and software like the DJI Dock, 4G connectivity solutions, and advanced platforms such as our AirHub Drone Operations Center support mission planning, execution, and fleet management. 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 EASA regulations require UAS operators to validate the robustness (level of assurance and integrity) of these external systems and services when applying for operational authorization with their National Aviation Authority. Ensuring these components meet safety, security and reliability standards is crucial. At AirHub Consultancy, we help UAS operators navigate these requirements, making your operations compliant and optimized for success.

  • As we continue to see drone operations expand across industries, safety remains paramount, especially in large-scale deployments where risks and complexities increase. Implementing a Safety Management System (SMS) is essential to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations. At AirHub Consultancy, we understand the critical role an SMS plays in identifying and managing risks, establishing safety protocols, and fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization. An effective SMS goes beyond mere compliance—it enhances operational resilience and builds trust with stakeholders and regulatory bodies alike. Whether it’s for industrial inspections, logistics, or public safety, a well-designed SMS is key to scaling drone operations responsibly. Learn more about why an SMS is essential and how to implement one effectively in our latest blog post: The Importance of a Safety Management System for Large-Scale Drone Operations.

Integrating drone technology into society with AirHub's Drone Operations Center and expertise in SORA, Design Verification, and U-space.

Last week I got to chance to present our AirHub Drone Operations Platform to both the Estonian and Latvian drone industry during two conferences organized by our friends from Droon.ee (Meridein OÜ) (and Droni.lv) in the beautiful City of Tallinn and Riga. It was great discussing how our software and AirHub Consultancy solutions could support drone operations in public safety, security and critical infrastructure management in the Baltic region. A big thanks to Eduard and Gert for the excellently organized conferences, I am already looking forward to coming back next year!

  • As outlined in JARUS official 's SORA Cyber Safety Extension, cyber security is crucial to maintaining safety and reliability in UAS operations. From DDoS attacks to malware, cyber threats can compromise key systems, including communication links, sensors, and autonomous controls. To mitigate these risks, a Security by Design approach is essential, ensuring protection across confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Compliance with frameworks like SORA and cyber-related OSOs is key to meeting both safety and cybersecurity standards in UAS operations. At AirHub Consultancy, we combine our deep expertise in UAS regulatory compliance with advanced knowledge of software development and data security. We help our clients strengthen their cyber defenses and ensure full compliance with the evolving cybersecurity landscape. Want to know more? Contact us to learn how we can assist.
