The Hague-based #startup WellDecommissioned receives investment to improve the affordability of energy transition 🫰⚡ Over the next decade, more than two million oil and gas wells on our planet must be permanently shut down to prevent leaks worldwide. 🌍 This is complex, costly, and requires a lot of engineering resources. In addition, cost reduction of new geothermal drilling is critical for affordable heat networks. WellDecommissioned has been optimising the decommissioning of oil and gas wells since 2018, and recently ended 2023 to make new #geothermal (ground heat) drilling more affordable. Gisteravond kwam (alweer) een droom van mij uit... Ik was live op de radio bij Den Haag FM. Uitgenodigd bij het programma Haagse Knaken. En ik kreeg bijna 15 minuten om te vertellen over TommyTomato, over hoe wij van alle kinderen groente-eters voor het leven maken en vooral waarom dat zo belangrijk is. Jullie weten inmiddels wel dat ik daar uren over kan praten, maar begrijp het ook helemaal als je geen zin hebt om 15 minuten naar mij te luisteren. Dus ik zal het proberen kort samen te vatten: We hebben in Gemeente Den Haag (en in de rest van Nederland) enorme verschillen tussen arm en rijk. En de problemen die er bij horen nemen ook toe: kinderen met overgewicht, druk op de zorg, kansenongelijkheid. En een gezonde schoollunch kan een breekijzer zijn, een begin om deze problemen te doorbreken. Gezonde schoollunches zijn nu extra relevant vanwege de onzekerheid rondom de subsidie van het Jeugdeducatiefonds. Die maakt het mogelijk dat een hoop scholen gratis kunnen meedoen. Of ik het vervelend zou vinden als de subsidie wegvalt? Ja, verschrikkelijk. Ik heb met mijn ogen gezien wat een enorme impact het maakt op de levens van kinderen. Hoe hun gedrag langzaam maar zeker verandert, ook thuis. Hoe zij steeds gezonder gaan eten, en mij vervolgens een knuffel geven om te bedanken (terwijl ik natuurlijk maar een heel klein aandeel heb in de oplossing). Maar ik ben ook optimistisch, en ben er heilig van overtuigd dat ook als de subsidie weg zou vallen dat TommyTomato samen met andere gulle gevers het gat gaat opvullen.
