  • We’re thrilled to share the success of yet another run of the Fundamentals of Effective Simulation Training course, held from 14–17 January 2025! This course brought together trainers and instructors from various Home Team Departments in Singapore for an engaging and impactful learning experience. A heartfelt thank you to Yung-Fang Chen, Assistant Professor in Disaster Management and Emergency Planning, and Course Director for the MSc in Emergency Management & Resilience at Coventry University, as well as Janet Campbell, Experiential Learning Specialist at The Simulation Centre , for their exceptional leadership in delivering this course. Over the four-day course, Dr. Chen and Janet shared invaluable insights into simulation training. They guided participants through the planning, creation, and execution of successful simulation exercises while addressing critical factors that can impact training effectiveness, such as human and technological considerations. We also extend our deepest appreciation to the Centre for Home Team Simulation (CHTS) staff for their outstanding support in hosting, facilitating, and contributing to the course’s success. Your dedication played a vital role in ensuring an enriching experience for all participants. We look forward to future courses and collaborations with CHTS and the Home Team Academy . Here’s to advancing excellence in simulation training together!   #HomeTeamAcademy #TrainingandLearning #SimulationTraining, #VRTraining

  • Yet another comprehensive paper published by Pei Jun S. under the guidance of Prof Satvinder Singh D. , AP Kee Hean Soh and Director Ngee Poon with the support of Charlene Ong, Siew Ghim Tan and Wee Huey Hui. This paper discusses if scenario-based simulation training's (SBST) fidelity plays a crucial role when creating training scenarios, and how varying experiences of each police officers affects their reaction and experience in SBST. As technology advances, so should our training methods. If you are curious about the effects of simulation based trainings, do give this paper a read! https://lnkd.in/gaQAgSD5 https://lnkd.in/gq_-svQR #SimulationTraining #VirtualRealityTraining #VRTraining #IncidentCommandTraining

  • In 2024, we've seen innovative and creative methods in which simulation training is being used to enhance and complement traditional training methods. Recreating past events or developing new situations, the flexibility of simulation enables all sorts of scenarios to be developed. With the year coming to an end, we would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Enjoy this scenario we created utilising the various tools in XVR Simulation, outside of the usual training scenarios! #IncidentCommand #CommandandControl #XVRSimulation #SimulationTraining #MerryChristmas

  • Training does not stop after participants complete the curriculum, after action reviews are carried out to analyse the events and reactions that unfold during the session. With Photo Mode, XVR Simulation enables high quality media to be captured as and when required. With full reign of how to capture your shot, you are the director of each scene while re-creating scenes that were theoretical or difficult to realise. Take the perfect shot by adjusting the various elements available to capture strategically planned shots, allowing these materials to be used for reference and educational purposes. #SimulationTraining #VRTraining #XVRSimulation #CommandandControl #IncidentCommand #Education

  • With the upgraded functions to the new and existing tools, the realism of simulation training has taken another step forward. Having the participant request for the appropriate equipment for each mission, or even restricting the kind of equipment available allows various situations to be realised through simulation training. Simulation training allows our emergency response teams to be exposed to all kinds of situations in a controlled environment, equipping them to handle any emergecies that may arise. #SimulationTraining #VRTraining #CommandandControl #IncidentCommand #XVRSimulation

🧰 Equip. Train. Excel: Participant Tools for VR and flatscreen set-ups 🧰 We’re excited to unveil the improvements made to our Participant Tools and Inventory System, a feature that brings increased flexibility and realism to your training scenarios. With this update, every participant—whether in VR or on a flatscreen setup—can access a personal inventory system and a variety of tools to complete their assignments. Scenario builders and instructors now have more options to design compelling training experiences. Tools like fire nozzles, flashlights, batons, handguns, and gas detectors are accessible to all participants, and items can be stored and managed easily, no matter the training style. The system also allows builders to pre-equip participants with the tools they need, enabling faster scenario starts and more immersive storylines. Whether you’re in VR or using the traditional controls, XVR On Scene 10 empowers your team with the tools they need to train and maintain core skills and boost confidence. #XVROnScene10 #CommandTraining #VRtraining

  • Illegal narcotics and substances pose a threat to society wherever it festers. It is reassuring to know that our homeland defenders Central Narcotics Bureau and Home Team Academy are constantly upgrading their training and knowledge on combating drug trafficking issues. Each case might prove to be different from others, using simulation as part of the training exposes the officers to numerous scenarios, serving as a foundation for operations when the situation arises. #VRTraining #SimulationTraining #IncidentCommand #CommandandControl

In collaboration with Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), the Home Team Academy (HTA) hosted a visit for the 28 international participants from the Singapore’s Drug Control Programme on 14 October 2024. The programme brought together senior officials from the law enforcement and drug control regulatory agencies from all over the world. This programme is part of CNB’s ongoing efforts to contribute to capability building of Singapore international drug enforcement counterparts in combating the transnational and international issue of drug trafficking and drug abuse, and to promote international cooperation in combating the world drug problem by providing a platform for officials to exchange best practices. On the first day of programme, the international participants were given an introduction to HTA and the evolution of ‘One Home Team’ concept at HTA’s newly launched Smart Classroom. The second segment of the programme featured a guided tour of the HT Gallery (HTG) and the Home Team Simulation Centre (HTSC). Overall, the international participants greatly appreciated the visit to HTA which provided them with valuable learning experiences. • A challenge of CBRE training is the usage of gas and fumes in real life. To bridge the gap between theory and practical, XVR Simulation has upgraded the hazmat and emissions system, allowing control of the spread of various gases and fumes, mimicking reality. Hand held detectors are also available in the simulation, allowing participants to practice detecting traces and locating the source. With the ability to create CBRE scenarios, XVR Simulation allows training to take place is a safe and controlled environment, while providing realism to the participants. #SimulationTraining #XVRSimulation #VRTraining #IncidentCommand

☢️ Upgraded emissions/hazmat system in XVR On Scene 10 ☢️ Great news for #XVR users! The upcoming #XVROnScene10 release brings big improvements to hazardous substance emissions modelling. The system is now more user-friendly and flexible, offering greater creative freedom to design custom scenarios for your #CRBNtraining. In the updated system, you can now simulate the spread of hazardous substances in three-dimensional space (including height!) or contain them using "emission containers" - similar to the existing fire containers. Contain the substances in a sealed space or allow them to seep through. Place sources inside the container to keep them in - or outside the container to keep them out. Once set, equip your participants with handheld devices to measure the emissions of gas, radiation, LEL and O2. They work in both standard and VR training mode, giving you the flexibility to train your way. #VRTraining
