A new monolithic sculpture rises on the banks of the Amstel river 🗿 - Amstelvista breaks ground! 🎉 We're excited to see Amstelvista's construction begin - a striking landmark with a 75-metre-high residential tower, serving as the backbone for two glass office buildings along the river banks. The design takes full advantage of its prime riverside location, offering panoramic views of the Amstel river and beyond. The tallest tower will accommodate social, mid-level, and free sector rental units. Its light two-tone gray natural stone façade will give it a monolithic, sculptural look. The entrance, at the corner of Ringdijk and Rocketstraat, will activate the streetscape, creating an engaging and welcoming atmosphere. Meanwhile, at the crossroads of Mr. Treubelaan and Weesperzijde, construction of the double-layered parking garage is progressing rapidly. Meet Zernikedreef 10: the green-glass research hub advancing health and medicine at Bio Science Park in Leiden! 🎉 At the frontline of health and medical innovation, Leiden Bio Science Park has long been a collaborative hub, where over 20,000 people work, live, and shape the future of life sciences. This dynamic ecosystem brings together research and entrepreneurship, united by the mission to advance medical knowledge, develop new treatments, and improve global health. At its heart, Zernikedreef 10 is poised for transformation. As part of the growing ‘Medicon Valley,’ this mixed-use complex will serve as a collaboration hub for the future, bringing together Kenniscentrum LCAB - Hogeschool Leiden, and the Centre for Human Drug Research. The building’s façade features a striking design of stacked volumes in a forest green hue, each serving a specific function. Sustainability is embedded in every detail—from the green colour, derived from recycled glass bottles, to the plants integrated throughout the building and roof to promote biodiversity. The 'brown' roof creates a maintenance-friendly sanctuary for birds and bats, complementing solar panels that enhance energy efficiency. Inside, Zernikedreef 10 will house academic facilities, advanced laboratories, and flexible office spaces with panoramic views and private terraces. The complex will also feature bicycle storage and an underground garage to meet the area’s parking needs. Last Friday, during our after-work drinks, we had the pleasure of having Paco Bunnik, Supervisor Urban Development of the city of Amsterdam, visit us. Paco is certainly no stranger to our agency. At Zuidas in particular, we‘ve been working together on the realization of Hourglass, NoMa House and the current Well House development. He took the time to share his insights into the city's most important projects on a very personal level, such as Buiksloterham, the 'Sprong over het IJ', and the ongoing transformation of Amsterdam Zuidoost. He also discussed Amsterdam's growth since the 1990s and its ambitious plans for 2050, with a focus on sustainability, urban development and international collaborations. We are absolutely thrilled to announce the successful completion of the BVL148 office transformation project! 🎉 The once-closed 1960s office building has been transformed into an open and sustainable workspace, ready for the future. Lead architect Diederik Dam explains, "The building we transformed was a heavy concrete structure that reflected its era. While its gravel concrete facade and horizontal composition are clearly of its time, it lacked the essence of the 1934 AUP, which defines this part of Amsterdam – the play of light, air, and space. Our design aims to restore that original spirit, creating a light, refined, and comfortable office that meets the demands of a modern high-end workspace." BVL148 showcases a modern facade with sleek black aluminium-framed glass bay windows that seem to float above the light beige stone exterior, creating a dynamic interplay of lines. This four-story building features over 4,700 m² of loft offices, meeting spaces, rooftop, a ground-floor supermarket, and a fitness area. With a focus on energy efficiency and sustainable materials, BVL148 is a model for eco-friendly design, ensuring its future viability. This transformation showcases our close collaboration with Kroonenberg Groep and all other stakeholders, resulting in BVL148 exuding high quality and comfort both inside and out, while actively contributing to the continued growth of Buitenveldert. ‘The Bridge is more than a space where living and working come together - it is a connection to the future,’ Diederik Dam stated in a recent interview. The development in Amstel III is taking shape featuring the three interconnected buildings - small, medium and large - each with rooftops designed for communal activities, such as a padel court, surrounded by greenery. ‘From the very beginning, we were conscious about the amenities we wanted to add.
