Europe's main network of national STEM platforms.
Over ons
The EU STEM Coalition is an EU-wide network that works to build better STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education in Europe. Our goal is to shape STEM education policies and practices that foster economic growth, opportunity and well-being for all. The EU STEM Coalition is at the heart of EU-wide cooperation between national STEM platforms. STEM platforms are national or regional organisations tasked with the coordination and implementation of the national and regional STEM strategies and policies. They include dedicated platforms, national ministries, regional authorities, research councils, innovation agencies and university networks and many more. The platforms work closely with our European partners and a range national and regional partners to address skills mismatch in STEM throughout the EU. The EU STEM Coalition's main goal is to facilitate best-practice sharing between European countries and regions. Through a wide variety of activities and resources we bring together policy makers and policy shapers to exchange ideas, share experiences, and develop new approaches across a range of areas related to STEM education and labour market. Our activities include annual conferences, thematic working groups, webinars, peer-learning activities and online repositories. In addition, the EU STEM Coalition provides direct support in the development of new initiatives, organisations and strategies based on existing best-practices.

🚀 How can we close the STEM gender gap? In a recent episode of the OECD Education and Skills Podcast, our chair, Beatrice Boots, joined Priscilla Gatonye from UNESCO to discuss the critical issue of gender disparity in STEM fields. 🔍 Key insights from the discussion: Despite performing equally well as boys in STEM subjects by age 15, many girls face confidence issues and stereotypes that deter them from pursuing STEM careers. Beatrice highlighted the economic importance of increasing women's participation in STEM, referencing the report by Draghi on Europe's competitiveness. The conversation emphasised the need for systematic, long-term policies and collaboration across education, industry, and government to bridge the gap. 🎯 Action points from the episode: 1️⃣ Create more attractive work environments for women in STEM. 2️⃣ Strengthen industry-education partnerships to support women's participation. 3️⃣ Implement systematic national and international approaches to address gender disparities. 4️⃣ Ensure holistic strategies involving all stakeholders. 📢 Listen to the full episode, “How to Close the STEM Gender Gap,” to hear more about these strategies and the collaborative efforts needed for change: https://lnkd.in/eqC8Suiy Let’s work together to inspire the next generation of women in STEM! 🌟 #STEMEducation #GenderEquality #WomenInSTEM #EUCoalition
