Innovative technology for the analysis of novel biomarkers exosomes
Over ons
EXIT071 (EXosomes Isolation Tool developed @Leiden) – an innovative startup developing pioneering technology for the analysis of novel biomarkers exosomes. All cells in our body make exosomes to send messages to other cells. Cells pack these tiny bubbles with their own molecular information and excrete them into all body fluids – blood, urine and even tears! Using exosomes make diagnostics very specific. This is why exosomes have a huge potential for non-invasive diagnostics and novel therapeutics. At EXIT071 we develop microfluidic technology that allows for the isolation and analysis of exosomes with high purity and in high-throughput automated format.

Last week, I had the pleasure of guest lecturing at Leiden University as part of Professor Coen van Hasselt’s 'Biomarkers' course. It was exciting to share with students the potential of extracellular vesicles—not only as biomarkers for various diseases but also as key cellular 'messengers' regulating the physiology of our body. I also enjoyed discussing how a research project can evolve into a company like EXIT071, highlighting how technology transfer bridges the gap between academic research and the needs of the pharmaceutical and diagnostic markets. A big thank you to Professor Coen van Hasselt for this wonderful opportunity! 😊 #exosomes #leiden #netherlands #healthinnovation #diagnostic #pharmaceutical

Thrilled to congratulate my talented Biomedical Science Master’s student, Fela Dalla Vedova Sanjuan from University of Amsterdam, on her outstanding thesis defense of "Depletion Zone Isotachophoresis: A Novel Method for Isolation, Separation, and Analysis of Exosomes." Fela’s hard work and dedication have truly shone through as she expanded the possibilities offered by EXIT071's microfluidic technology, and enhanced its usability across various sample types. I’m incredibly proud of her growth and accomplishments, and I’m excited that she’ll continue with us, advancing our methods and contributing her skills to our ambitious project. Congratulations, Fela – looking forward to what’s next!

We were delighted to host Prof. Udo Markert from University Hospital Jena at EXIT071 for a productive and inspiring discussion! Prof. Markert is the head of the Placenta Lab and a key opinion leader in pregnancy and human reproduction. Together, we explored the exciting potential of our exosome isolation technology in the discovery of biomarkers from the placenta. These biomarkers could be groundbreaking in the early detection and management of pregnancy complications, such as preeclampsia. We look forward to advancing this collaborative effort and pushing the boundaries of innovation in maternal health! #Biomarkers #Exosome #ExtrcellularVesicles #EVs #microfluidics #Technology #pregnancy #Preeclampsia #reporduction #MaternalHealth #Collaboration #KOP Thomas Hankemeier, Andrea Capuano, Ahmed Ali

Are you ready for the Dutch #CEDiscussionGroup on 14 October in Utrecht? 🤩 On this beautiful morning it is time to put the spotlight on our next speaker: Andrea Capuano. Andrea holds a PhD in microtechnologies and is currently a Marie Curie Post-doc researcher at EXIT071, an innovative spinoff company of Leiden University in the Netherlands. His expertise includes miniaturized device development, wearable medical device design, and testing of container closure systems for drugs. His talk is titled ✨Depletion-zone isotachophoresis (dzITP) of extracellular vesicles: a separation method suitable for biomarker discovery applications that can increase purity over current techniques✨ About the lecture Exosomes are nanovesicles produced by cells, crucial for cell-to-cell communication, which have a mediating role, through different biomarkers, in the development of metabolic syndromes, malignancies, or neurodegenerative diseases. By leveraging the principle of Depletion-zone isotachophoresis (dzITP), at EXIT071, we are developing a microchip technology that utilizes electric fields to isolate exosomes from blood plasma, facilitating comprehensive analyses such as lipidomics and metabolomics. Our method further purifies exosome samples beyond conventional techniques like size exclusion chromatography and tangential flow filtration. This innovation promises to revolutionize diagnostics and enable personalized therapies, offering faster and less invasive solutions for the future. For more information about Andrea or the event, see https://lnkd.in/dZRHVFDJ. Registration will close on 07 October, don’t miss out and register now! 👇 🗓️ Date: 14th of October 2024 🕛 Time: 09:30 - 17:00 📌 Location: @Isogen Life Science in Utrecht ✒ https://lnkd.in/e_ZJsSDC We hope to see you there! 🙋♂️ 🙋♀️ Elena Dominguez Vega Rob Haselberg Eline van den Berg Kevin Jooß Debbie van der Burg
