Congratulations to the QAIMS lab team for winning the Golden App prize in the Airbus & BMW Group Quantum Computing Challenge! 🚀 Team leader Boyang Chen accepted the award on behalf of the team in Silicon Valley today. The team: 👏🏼 Arne Wulff, Swapan Madabhushi, Boyang Chen, and Yinglu Tang from the Faculty of TU Delft | Aerospace Engineering 👏🏼 Matthias Möller from the Faculty of TU Delft | Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science 👏🏼 Sebastian Feld from QuTech Arne: “We’re grateful and proud! We are proud to announce that we are the winner of the Airbus-BMW Quantum Computing Challenge in the Golden Application category!

QAIMS members attended the DUCOMS Day 2024 of Computational Science NL. It was a fantastic event. Koen Mesman presented his latest work on autoencoded variational quantum eigensolvers for interatomic potentials with neural network for parameter prediction. Arne Wulff gave a talk on quantum-assisted approach for stacking sequence retrieval in composites design including comparison against state-of-the-art algorithms. Manuscripts on these work are on the way, stay tuned!

Due to an exponentially large configuration space and additional constraints, this problem is generally difficult to solve, but quantum computers might offer new tools to tackle this problem. In this work, we translate stacking sequence retrieval into a form that is suitable for a variety of quantum algorithms.
