Getting to zero undernutrition and zero people without access to basic WASH.
Over ons
Despite great progress over the past decades, almost 200 million children under five still suffer from stunting (low height/age), wasting (low weight/height), or both, and over 340 million from vitamin and mineral deficiencies. COVID-19 and climate change further aggravate this situation. Right2Grow has analysed the root causes of our inability to get these numbers to zero. We see a world full of great intentions, expertise and wealth, which does not live up to its promises and potential. At the same time, we also see strong women, men and children in affected communities ready to voice their needs, and ready to contribute their own part of the solution. Right2Grow will bridge the gap between these powerful women, men and children – and the often – powerless leaders, experts and technocrats who seek to support them. Right2Grow is a Strategic Partnership between Action Against Hunger, the Centre for Economic Governance and Accountability in Africa (CEGAA), Max Foundation, Save the Children, The Hunger Project and World Vision. With funding from the Dutch Government (Civil Society Strengthening – Power of Voices), Righ2Grow will collaborate with communities, community-based organisations and civil society organisations in Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Mali, South Sudan and Uganda from 2021-2025. Mobilizing Communities for Better Nutrition and WASH Outcomes. Under the Right2Grow Uganda program, Amani Initiative has empowered communities to take charge of their nutrition and WASH needs. In Bura Opidri Cell, Maracha Town Council, community members worked together to clean and temporarily protect two unsafe water sources. “We realized waiting wouldn’t solve our water crisis. By uniting, we’ve secured safer water for our families,” said a local resident. In Ovujo Town Council, where poor sanitation contributed to high malnutrition rates, the health assistant and sanitation committee launched Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) in Ovujo A, B Cells, and Bongilo Village. “These sessions taught us how hygiene impacts health, and now even children are actively involved,” shared a participant from Ovujo A Cell. These initiatives, driven by CVA action plans, have fostered local ownership and lasting change. “The program showed us that improving our lives begins with us,” affirmed a community leader. #Right2Grow #StrongerTogether

🔎 When #research meets real-life needs, it transforms lives! The innovative, locally led research, developed by the Right2Grow programme and driven by the ‘Trio Fantastico’ has revolutionized how we generate and use evidence for advocacy. 📊 Piloted in #Mali, #Uganda and #Bangladesh, the unique collaboration among a local researcher, an advocacy expert and a community knowledge holder has forged a powerful link between community insights, scientific research and policy advocacy. By working together, they create context-specific evidence that drives better policymaking. 🙌This collaborative approach has produced actionable recommendations that are already influencing policies. 👉Check out our full article to learn more about how this innovative research model is shaping policies and improving lives: https://lnkd.in/dqrz2fM8 Action Against Hunger | ACF-USA The Hunger Project Nederland Save the Children Nederland World Vision Nederland Max Foundation Right2Grow_Uganda Nixon Ochatre Nouroudine Lenoble LOUGUE

🌽 On this World Food Day 2024, we advocate for further steps to be taken to end malnutrition. Food and nutrition is a human right, for a better life and better future. In 2021, governments and private sector donors pledged more than US$27 billion at the Tokyo Nutrition for Growth (N4G) Summit to address the global malnutrition and hunger crisis. Despite these efforts some 86 million children below five face various forms of malnutrition in Africa, 63 million are stunted, 10 million are overweight and three million are wasted- meaning that they have low weight for their height. 👊 Today, Right2Grow wishes to shine a light on the opportunities for change ahead. The upcoming Nutrition for Growth (N4G) Summit in France in March 2025 presents a critical opportunity to reassess strategies, mobilize additional resources, and enhance national, regional and international commitments to combating malnutrition. Over the last few months, Right2Grow partners together with Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement and CARE, Right2Grow_Uganda, South Sudan and Ethiopia have consolidated evidence from local communities, CSOs, NGOs and other partners to create national-level position papers. These positions and recommendations focus on: 🔎 Enhanced Monitoring of Outcomes & Accountability 📍 Clear and Effective Governance of Nutrition Policies 👨👩👧👦 Stakeholder Mobilisation & Multisector Engagement 💪 The time to act is now! Right2Grow is proud to be represented in the Power of Voices special edition of Vice Versa's publication. 💪 Our partners in Ethiopia tell the inspiring story of how the Vision, Commitment & Action (VCA) method for community mobilization allows them to keep their local government accountable. This week the special edition was presented in the Netherlands together with Partos. During this inspiring event it was very clear that the 'Shift the Power' principle can lead to immense and sustainable impact for local communties. 💬 Many thanks to Marc Broere, Editor-in-Chief for the inspiring words: "Hopefully this will not be an edition of Vice Versa that just shows what happened in the past, but gives us a future vision of other great partnerships to come." While we are disheartened by the budget cuts outlined in the recently released 2025 Budget Memorandum (Miljoenennota) and the impact they will have on the communities we serve, we are proud to see the Right2Grow program recognized in the document presented to the Dutch House of Representatives. Right2Grow is a strategic partnership working to ensure children in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia have access to proper nutrition, clean water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH). Together with our partners, we advocate for a holistic approach that integrates nutrition, WASH, gender, and economic growth to tackle child undernutrition. As the future of strategic partnerships like Right2Grow faces uncertainty, we remain committed to supporting child health and development in the most vulnerable communities. What is BMET & how might we use it as an advocacy tool? 💰 BMET stands for Budget Monitoring & Expenditure Tracking. This is a powerful advocay tool used by communities to influence government resource allocation and spending on food security, nutrition and WASH interventions. 🎥 See below how Right2Grow Bangladesh have taken a step-by-step approach to implement BMET as part of their advocacy strategy. ✏️ Want to learn more about BMET? R2G _ WVB _ Debhata _ Team thrilled to published that another great achievement on last year 2023! There is the most amazing & interesting part that how R2G project ensuring "Data driven community led advocacy". This powerfull process has been proven that most effective in advocating for more responsive, inclusive, and accountable local governance. It’s a result of systematic process. There have 6 steps. All steps are given below; STEP #01: Project facilitate to CSOs and they generated data through Growth Monitoring Program (GMP) at EPI center and Community Clinic (CC) STEP #02: Project Provide support to CSOs to analyze data and identify the malnourished children STEP #03: CSOs participate and present the data in the meeting of Union Development Coordination Committee and influence to Union Parishad for prepare a plan and allocate the budget STEP #04: Union Parishad developed multi approach action plan with engagement of agriculture, fisheries, DPHE, HEALTH, Women affairs and allocated budget in their annual budget plan STEP #05: Union Parishad are providing materials support to Community Clinic, Schools, FWC, pregnant & lactating mothers, CU5 etc. for accomplishing the planned activities STEP #06: Union Parishads are using digital apps for Budget Monitoring and Expenditure Tracking (BMET) Potentiality of replication from this approach: Union Parishads are the nearest to people and smallest rural administrative and local government units in Bangladesh. Most of our development organizations are working with Union Parishad and focusing on nutrition issue especially child nutrition. I think, other program and project of World Vision Bangladesh can easily replicate this learning. Hopefully, we feel good after watching this video. #WorldVisionBangladesh #Right2Grow R2G Consortium Partners: Save The Children, The Hunger Project, Action Against Hunger, Max Foundation, Society Development Agency, JAGO NARI & HLP Foundation
