Decent working conditions in global supply chains
Over ons
The Social & Labor Convergence Program (SLCP) is a multi-stakeholder initiative with over 250 signatories striving for decent working conditions in global supply chains. Central to SLCP’s mission is the Converged Assessment Framework (CAF) - a universal social assessment tool that eliminates the need for proprietary social audits - allowing saved resources to be redirected into improvement programs for workers. In addition, SLCP supports stakeholders in accessing credible and actionable social and labor data for Human Rights Due Diligence implementation and enables collaborative solutions to improve working conditions. Since launching in 2019, over 11,000 facilities in more than 50 countries have started using the CAF, unlocking an estimated $25m annually by reducing duplicative audits. Over 80 prominent brands and standard holders now publicly accept SLCP data. SLCP is registered as an independent non-profit foundation (stichting) based in the Netherlands. 🔎 Welcome to Data Friday 🔍 This month, we’re highlighting SLCP’s key findings for 2024. 📊Our data reveals that on average, facilities involving stakeholders had fewer legal flags than those that did not include stakeholders in their goal-setting process. This gap becomes even more significant when examining wages and benefits. ✅ These findings suggest that facilities that engage stakeholders (such as brands or manufacturers) in setting social and labor objectives are more likely to establish and maintain better working conditions for their workers. 💡Learn more about the importance of stakeholder engagement in the factsheet here --> https://lnkd.in/g7uSi2rq #SLCPDataFriday #DataInsights #SocialCompliance #AuditFatigue #Sustainability #SupplyChains

🔎 Welcome to Data Friday 🔍 🎯 This month we're looking into SLCP's key findings in 2024. Our data reveals that, for yet another consecutive year, overtime working hours remain the most frequent legal non-compliance, with 60% of SLCP assessments reporting overtime hours exceeding legal limits. 📈 ⚠️ Excessive working hours is one of the 11 indicators of forced labor according to the International Labor Organization (ILO). Forced labor is identifiable when there is pressure to work involuntarily, threat of penalty or when additional hours are required in order to be paid minimum wage. 💡Check out our overtime working hours factsheet to discover actionable steps stakeholders can take to address this issue ---> https://lnkd.in/dU_sHBvt #SLCPDataFridays #DataInsights #SocialCompliance #AuditFatigue #Sustainability #SupplyChains

🌏 On this United Nations International Human Rights Day, we would like to reiterate our commitment to decent working conditions in global supply chains. SLCP assessments provide credible and actionable data that can support companies to both identify human rights risks and to track and monitor progress. 🔎 Our data shows that 94% of facilities have at least one legal non-compliance*. It’s clear that there is still work to be done, and now more than ever, it is crucial to maintain our focus on human rights due diligence (HRDD) across supply chains. ✅ SLCP’s HRDD Toolkit explains how the Converged Assessment Framework is useful for key due diligence steps. 🇧🇪 Our Senior Policy and Stakeholder Engagement Manager, Tom Mason, joined a panel at Cascale's Brand & Retail Forum in Brussels earlier this week on 'Advancing Sustainable and Fair Supply Chains: The Role of CS3D and the Higg Index'. Tom spoke alongside Lisa Süß from Fair Wear Foundation, Dan Dionisie from the European Commission, Greta Koch from the European Parliament, and Jeremy Lardeau from Cascale. ✅ They discussed the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, the challenges in the textile and consumer goods industries in aligning with new EU legislation, and potential ways forward in finding solutions. Tom called for the need for further convergence and collaboration in order to increase compliance efficiencies and make the business case for enhancing responsible business conduct. The Forum provided an excellent platform to connect with key stakeholders and exchange insights on driving sustainable change 🙌 #SLCP #CascaleForums #BrandRetailForum #CS3D #Convergence
