🌻Exploring Innovations in Bio-Inputs Bio-inputs, which include macro-organisms like insects and micro-organisms like fungi and bacteria, make our food and crops healthier by improving soil health, reducing pests, and improving plant resilience. For example, certain 🐝 wasps help control 🐛 caterpillar populations, reducing the need for synthetic pesticides, while the fungus 🍄 Trichoderma strengthens 🌱 plants and improves soil quality. The Netherlands and Brazil are at the forefront of bio-input innovation. This made it almost natural for Kingdom of the Netherlands in Brazil to organize an innovation mission on this important topic. Both countries are home to leading universities in agricultural sciences—Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands and Escola Superior de Agricultura "Luiz de Queiroz" in Brazil—as well as companies and startups shaping the future of agriculture. Our mission took us through São Paulo's agricultural hotspots, including Holambra and Piracicaba. Innovatie Attaché Netwerk Brazilië / Netherlands Innovation Attaché Network Brazil organized a symposium on cross-border innovation with InovaUSP. Key highlights included: 👉 Professor Raul Gonzalez introduced USP - Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil’s highest ranked university. 👉 Innovation counselor Robert Thijssen shared insights into the Dutch and Brazilian #innovationecosystems. 👉 Eduardo Zancul of FAPESP discussed how the foundation promotes innovation, including its collaboration with NWO (Dutch Research Council). 👉 Camila Borba Lefèvre from Vieira Rezende Advogados outlined the legal framework for innovative partnerships between the Netherlands and Brazil. 👉 Gert Stiekema introduced Topsector Horticulture & Starting Materials, a consortium driving dutch and international innovation. 👉 André J. from Business France shared French experiences in cross-border collaboration within bio-inputs. 👉 Professor João Roberto Spotti Lopes from STAC/USP, the Tropical Agriculture Center, presented the role of data in shaping modern agriculture. The mission was led by Anneke Kamp, van de of the Topsector Horticulture & Starting Materials, with great organization by the Dutch agricultural team in Brazil— Paul Van de Logt, Frederica Heering and Ramon Gerrits. Participating companies and organizations were: Artemis, BioMosae, Bionomic, Botany Group, Hudson River Biotechnology, Koppert, Soiltech, Topsector Horticulture & Starting Materials, Wageningen University & Research, Netherlands Enterprise Agency and Ministerie van Landbouw, Visserij, Voedselzekerheid en Natuur . #AgricultureInnovation #BioInputs #Sustainability #CrossBorderCollaboration #InnovationEcosystems #BrazilNetherlands #AgricultureTech
