Fueling growth with green finance: Empowering Vietnam's organic rice farmers 🌿    We are thrilled to share that we are working with Beneficial Returns, an impact investment #fund manager, to support Hoa Nang, an organic rice business in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta.    Hoa Nang partners with local #farmers, helping them shift from conventional to organic farming methods that nurture rice and the entire ecosystem.    With sustainable practices, the farms’ waterways remain chemical-free, allowing fish, shrimp, and crabs to thrive, providing food and extra #income for the farmers.    Through Hoa Nang’s work, farmers earn better incomes, consumers enjoy healthier food, and nature flourishes.    Within this business case, we provided a #guarantee to cover and reduce the risks of Beneficial Returns' first loan in Vietnam.     This alliance is part of our Green Finance for SMEs Guarantee Fund, where we work to increase access to #finance and #markets for SMEs who source from communities living in tropical forest landscapes.    #TropenbosInternational #GreenFinance #Guarantee #BusinessCase #OrganicRice #SME Bastiaan Louman | Juan Manuel Moya | Maurits de Koning | Nationale Postcode Loterij

How do we empower #young people to protect tropical #forests? 🌎🌳🦜 This year, at the Youth Pavilion of #COP16Colombia, young leaders read the manifesto prepared by the 15 youth who are part of the #YouthItOrLoseIt Amazon programme. Traditional and Indigenous knowledge is a cornerstone of forest conservation. It provides sustainable, holistic, and culturally relevant practices that help preserve forests, protect biodiversity, and mitigate climate change. Recognizing and integrating this knowledge into modern conservation strategies can lead to more effective and inclusive forest management, ensuring that forests continue to provide vital ecological, cultural, and economic benefits for future generations. Collaboration between traditional and indigenous communities, governments, and conservation organizations is essential to harness the full potential of this valuable knowledge for global forest conservation efforts. #COP29 Tropenbos International

Wildfires are becoming more widespread, burning at least twice as much #tree cover today as they did two decades ago. How can we tackle this? This week at #COP29, our experts Rosalien Jezeer and Humberto Gómez led a session to dive into this topic and the need for #tropical countries to include #wildfire management into their #NDCs 🌍🌳🔥.
