Today Maritime CleanTech is in the spotlight as part of our social media campaign "Meet our members". Maritime CleanTech represents one of the world’s most complete maritime commercial hubs. They build bridges across companies, governments, and R&D to speed up the green transition in shipping. In collaboration with over 150 partners stretching across the maritime value chain, they establish green and groundbreaking projects with global commercial potential. Maritime CleanTech uses the Norwegian maritime expertise, built up over generations, as a springboard for developing energy-efficient and sustainable technologies. They are leading several international projects to pilot the use of wind, hydrogen, ammonia, and LOHC technology to cut emissions both in offshore and deep-sea operations. They are also involved in developing new value chains with the producers of green energy carriers and focus strongly on shaping policies to accelerate decarbonization. “Through strong EU partnerships, Maritime CleanTech and partners develop global green solutions for maritime activities. Our WaterborneTP partnership further strengthens our commitment to sustainable shipping. We're actively collaborating to enhance the priorities for cleaner technologies at the forefront of European innovation", says CEO Ada Martine Jakobsen.

We wrapped up #ChasingZero2024 with an outlook on 2025 – a pivotal year for maritime decarbonisation! 🌍✨ With FuelEU Maritime regulations kicking in from January 1st and the IMO expected to finalize a global Net Zero framework, the industry is facing an era of decisive action. Sveinung Oftedal delivered an insightful roadmap, highlighting the increasing demands and opportunities for sustainable shipping. 🛠️ In their informative panel discussion, Tor Arne Borge and Håvard Lien emphasized the critical need for shipyard capacity to meet rising demand for fleet renewal in alignment with sustainability goals. 📈 Hildegunn McLernon, Silje Glesnes and Henrik A. Skjerve shared vital insights on how digital tools are revolutionizing operational efficiency while reducing energy use. 🙆♀️ The panel also emphasised the human aspect of the transformation and reminded us that digitalisation is not just a tech issue – at bottom it’s a people issue. 👶 And as Willie Wagen pointed out: A child born today will be a recent graduate in 2050. We can’t wait for a new generation to fix the carbon problem – it’s us who must do the job. 👋 We leave inspired and ready to tackle the challenges ahead. 🌍⚓ Driving Circularity in the Maritime Industry Norwegian shipyards are set to gain a competitive edge as Maritime CleanTech and Grieg Green launch an ambitious project to create a circular value chain for shipping. With NOK 1.6 million granted by Vestland County Council (Vestland fylkeskommune), the initiative leverages innovative tools like Grieg Green's YardScore to ensure sustainability from shipbuilding to recycling. ♻️ ❗ The numbers are striking: 15,000 ships will reach end-of-life in the next decade—double the previous ten years. This underscores the urgent need for greener practices, from reusing equipment to producing "green" steel for offshore wind and construction projects. "The lack of neutral and effective tools for assessing the sustainability of subcontractors and shipyards is challenging for the industry. This project will ensure such transparency while contributing to the development of a circular maritime economy with global impact," says Pia Meling, CEO of Grieg Green, as she launched the project to the industry at today’s Chasing Zero Conference. The future of shipping is circular. 🌱 Are you on board? #Sustainability #MaritimeInnovation #CircularEconomy #Shipping Vestland fylkeskommune | Pia Meling | Grieg Green | Ada Martine Jakobsen | Sveinung Tvedt | Silje Sivertsen | Kari Stautland | Håvard Tvedte
