Imagine a world where every educational app in the App Store comes with evidence of its educational impact. In my new article in Nature Portfolio I dive into an urgent issue that impacts millions of children worldwide: the quality of the so-called “educational” apps. 📚 As someone who’s researched educational technology for over a decade, I can say this: edtech can be beneficial but it needs to be designed, implemented and validated in an evidence-based way. 🔎 Every day, millions of children are using educational apps that are marketed as “learning tools” but lack any learning effects. 🔖 Partnerships between researchers and edtech producers can make this vision a reality, but there’s still work to do.
