About us
2degrees is a full service telecommunications provider. We launched in 2009, significantly lowering the cost of mobile for Kiwis, but we've actually been around a little while longer. Back in the 90s a visionary group of Maori challenged the crown through the Treaty of Waitangi and won the rights to 3G spectrum. Despite financial and regulatory adversity a Maori Trust (Hautaki) was established with the challenge of launching New Zealand’s third mobile network. Since then, we’ve been busy. We have built a brand new mobile network, helping us to cover 98.5% of the places Kiwis live and work. In March 2015 we also acquired NZ's fourth largest ISP (Snap), and now offer internet services as well as mobile to Kiwis across the country. We all really believe in what we are trying to accomplish for our customers and New Zealand. We’ve even been lucky enough to be recognised for it along the way, with a number of awards for our customer service over the years.

We're proud to have partnered with Breastscreen Midland to deliver a transformative solution that’s helping to save lives across Aotearoa. BreastScreen Midland plays a vital role in breast cancer detection, reaching thousands of women in rural communities across Waikato, Bay of Plenty, and Lakes districts. However, unreliable connectivity at their mobile units was hindering operations, with slow speeds affecting critical tasks like uploading mammogram images. With our Starlink and SD-WAN solution, we helped improve download speeds up to 120 Mbps and upload speeds up to 10 Mbps. This means quicker, more efficient processes, such as real-time image uploads and better communication with patients. BreastScreen Midland Manager Angela Wheadon shared: “Being able to see images in real time, and upload them immediately after an appointment, has been game-changing.” Thanks to our robust connectivity solution, they’re now on track to clear a 5,000-person backlog by their deadline—ultimately leading to better health outcomes for rural communities. This is just one example of how technology can make a tangible difference in critical services. We’re thrilled to be supporting BreastScreen Midland in their life-saving mission. If you were in Auckland central today you may have come across something a little different! This morning, we stopped Aucklanders in their tracks with a striking ice sculpture installation in Takutai Square, Britomart - to demonstrate the speed and scale of climate change and a commitment to reduce our emissions. Made from 2,500 litres of rainwater and weighing over two tonnes, the sculpture symbolized the speed and scale of climate change, with ringing mobile phones frozen inside to highlight the connection between our industry and the need for action. As the ice melted, and the calls from "Earth" kept coming through, it served as a powerful reminder of the urgency to combat climate change. Today, we also announced that 2degrees is the first New Zealand telco to achieve validation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for our net-zero 2040 target.* Thank you to everyone who joined us to reflect, engage, and commit to action. Let’s all answer the call. Learn more in our Community Impact Report at 2degrees.nz/Sustainability *2degrees' targets validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative under The Corporate Net-Zero Standard. Reaching net-zero requires 90% reduction of our greenhouse gas emissions by 2040 from FY2022 baseline and investment in initiatives to balance out the rest

Meet Niamh Masterson, Our People Hub Coordinator! Niamh joined us in 2023 as part of the 2degrees Corporate Grad Programme, and what an incredible journey it’s been! From exploring roles as a Purpose and Sustainability Advisor, Organisational Development Advisor, and Change Lead in our Business Customer Operations team, Niamh has truly made the most of every opportunity. Now, as a full-time member of our People team, Niamh is at the heart of so much that keeps 2degrees running smoothly. She manages our busy centralised People Hub inbox, supports onboarding for new employees, collaborates on FairNews with our internal comms team, and leads our FairDays volunteering program. When asked what keeps her motivated at 2degrees, Niamh summed it up perfectly: “The people, the people, the people! Everyone is so passionate about the work they do and always willing to share their knowledge.” We couldn’t agree more, Niamh—it’s people like you who make 2degrees such an amazing place to work. Want to learn more about Niamh’s experience as a 2degrees Grad? Check out her full interview here: careers.2degrees.nz

We’re excited to announce that we are the official telecommunications partner of Auckland FC! For the duration of the season, 2degrees will have an exclusive VIP area to host our key clients in the "2degrees Business Bunker" for a hosting experience that money can't buy. How awesome is that? Andrew Fairgray, our Chief Business Officer at 2degrees, shared his excitement about this new partnership: “2degrees and Auckland FC have many synergies, as disruptors in our respective fields and embrace the challenger sprit. Together we can leverage the scale of both organisations to bring engagement for all. Along with this, it is fair to say 2degrees now has the best seats in the house, with the 2degrees business bunker on the halfway line. Additionally when the team is away they will all be benefiting from 2degrees Free Aussies Roaming to ensure they can stay connected on the road" And Nick Becker, Auckland FC CEO echoed this excitement "2degrees share our passion for fairness and community connection, which aligns perfectly with our club values. They ensure our fans and community stay connected, whether at the games, online, or through the stories we share. This partnership strengthens our ability to bring the beautiful game closer to the people of Auckland." What a way to kick off the partnership with a Derby game.

We’re proud to be long-term supporters of Variety New Zealand, and this holiday season, we’re supporting their Christmas Appeal, which aims to give 12,814 Kiwi kids the gift of food this holiday season. The reality facing many Kiwi families this Christmas is heartbreaking. According to Variety, 98% of caregivers on their waiting list report going without essential food items, making it impossible for some to provide even a simple Christmas meal. To help raise awareness within 2degrees and our wider business community, we’ve been decorating a very special Christmas tree at our head office this week. This tree isn’t just a decoration—it’s adorned with letters from Kiwi kids asking Santa for food instead of toys this Christmas. Each letter serves as a poignant reminder of the challenges facing vulnerable families this year. We encourage you to visit https://lnkd.in/gTrQzAwU to answer a child’s letter and give the gift of food this Christmas. 💙 A big thank you to Colliers for your support, and to Liz Price, Susan Glasgow, Marnie Pitcher and the rest of the incredible team at Variety New Zealand for the amazing work you do throughout the year.
