Building excellence for business + people

About us

Apollo Projects (“Apollo”) is a design and construction company, specialising in the delivery of turn-key food and beverage processing facilities and controlled environment construction. Specialist industries we operate in include. • Food Processing • Dairy • Wineries & Beverages • Cold Storage • Retail, Commercial & Industrial • Sports, Aquatics & Education Apollo is committed to providing industry-leading construction services to these sectors and has a proven track record for on-time and on-budget developments. We have designed and built large scale developments for many national corporates including Fonterra, Synlait, Foodstuffs, Big Chill and Lion Nathan. Apollo has also undertaken a number of international projects. As a design and build contractor we coordinate and manage every aspect of a build project from concept design, to consent approvals, to construction and finally commissioning and client hand-over. We tailor our services to suit client’s requirements and encourage robust discussion within the project team around materials, design and buildability. A key point of difference for Apollo is our early participation in the building and services design process – this is referred to as Early Contractor Involvement or ECI. As ECI specialists we bring both a practical and theoretical understanding of project buildability which means we develop a more efficient design. We design and build to a budget and remain conscious of design change implications at every step in the process. Health & safety is integral to the Apollo culture - Our first value is ‘Safety above all else’, and our approach to this is collaborative. On every project we employ our leading health and safety management systems, offering our clients and every project participant peace of mind, knowing that safety comes first.

  • 🏊♂️ Making waves in Lower Hutt! 🏊♂️ This morning, the official opening and blessing of Te Ngaengae Pool + Fitness took place, followed by a walk through for the local iwi, schools, council, and project representatives. Te Ngaengae is a community-led project, with a goal to revitalise Naenae and strives to achieve modern sustainability and design standard. Covering 15,800m2 of land with a 5,800m2 build, the centre blends innovative design with cultural significance, reflecting the rich heritage of the community. Apollo worked closely with the Hutt City Council, achieving a collaborative relationship that strengthened project outcomes. With AECON’s high standards as the client-side project manager, the team adapted to ensure safety and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, who were treated as an integral part of the family on site. Through local employments, training opportunities, and meaningful cultural connections, Te Ngaengae pools stand as a testament to community-led design and sustainable development. Well done to everyone involved in delivering this community focussed facility! 🏊♂️ You can read more about the facility here: https://lnkd.in/gpAjCewt #construction #designandbuild #teamwork

This morning, the beautiful sound of waiata ā-ringa sung by local tamariki filled the early morning silence in Naenae, as part of the blessing ceremony for Te Ngaengae Pool + Fitness. The specially written waiata ā-ringa, recalling the history of Naenae, was performed by hundreds of local school students who have been rehearsing these items for the past three years. Te Ngaengae Pool + Fitness is now officially open and ready for our community to enjoy. It features a 50m Olympic pool with 10 lanes, dual moveable bulkheads, a leisure pool with family-friendly and accessible zones, plus two epic hydro slides. Come on down and check it out! • We are very excited to announce that this week Te Ngaengae has been awarded a 5 Green Sar Design and As-Built v1.0 certified Design Review rating. Te Ngaengae is targeting a Green Star 5 build, and if this is achieved the facility will be the first and only aquatic centre to achieve this. 🏊♂️ The facility boasts various sustainability features that have contributed to the 5 Green Star Design achievement. The centre incorporates glulam timber throughout the design, which is a more sustainable resource, is host to several EV chargers, and is solar ready. Material selection was strict in the design of this project, and sustainability considerations were front of mind. The project team recycled or reused 80% of all demolition material from the old pool, saving more than 13,000 tonnes of scrap metal and concrete from going to landfill. ♻ We are excited to see to see the progress on achieving the targeted Green Star 5 build. Well done to the team working hard behind the scenes to get us there, specifically Adrian Radcliffe, Larry Osborn and Mark Wilson from Apollo, and Chris Mills and Millie Robinson from Powell Fenwick and finally to Claire Smith from Tonkin + Taylor. 🎉 You can read more about the facility here: https://lnkd.in/gtwabM95 Hutt City Council #construction #designandbuild #sustainanbility

  • We shout, you shout, we all shout for roof shouts! 👷♀️👷♂️ On Tuesday, our team down in Dunedin celebrated a huge milestone for the Mataukareao Great King Street project. The completion of the roof is a great accomplishment for our team on site who are working on the greenstar rated 6-storey building. This was a perfect opportunity for our team to shout lunch for our hard-working subbies, consultants, and of course our client Hapai Property, and celebrate the continued success of the project. We look forward to seeing more progress on this project for the rest of the year and into 2025. Shout out to our CEO Peter Beggs for sharing these photos! 📸 #construction #designandbuild #people

  • ⭐ Hump Day Shout Outs ⭐ This month we are highlighting a couple of hardworking subbies working on the Foodstuffs South Island AutoFreeze project here in Christchurch. Imtiaz Immanuel aka Fiji works for Lanyon & Le Compte, they supply and install the precast panels for the refrigeration plant room. We have heard nothing short of great feedback about their team and they have been awesome to work alongside. Fiji has a positive impact on those around him on site, his set of skills are used to carry out finishing work of sealing and patching precast panels. Dave Ward works for Altitude Building & Construction. He has been hard at work framing up and installing Gib Fireline to the walls and ceilings of the Oxy reduction plant room. Fun fact about Dave is he actually worked for Apollo for almost 7 years as a site manager and he finished up with us in 2022. He said he loves working on Apollo sites and getting to meet the site teams. Well done guys and thank you to all of our subbies working hard to get this project across the line! 🙌 #construction #designandbuild #people

Time to celebrate another corporate partner who shares Full Bellies vision to help children, our community, and families in need! 💙 Apollo Projects offer much more than monthly financial donations to Full Bellies. Support also looks like fortnightly baking delivered into our HQ, prepping teams that appear on a Tuesday but also the owners and families themselves are heavily involved in our charity - Craig Waghorn and Rochelle, Paul Lloyd and Ali along with their fab team are here for the long haul. Guys your continued support to Full Bellies is so appreciated, thank you to everyone at Apollo Projects who helps our cause 🫶🙌 #support #partnership

It was an exciting day last Friday as the team broke ground on the expansion of the Christchurch Engine Centre. 🚧 Apollo have been working closely with Pratt & Whitney and Christchurch International Airport Limited on the design and build of this new facility. Covering over 10,000m2, the facility will include a 6,000m2 Repair Shop, 3,150m2 Material Store, 850m2 Offices, plus associated amenities and supporting services. Shout out to the team Sam Toulmin, Jared Daly, Craig Bettjeman, Craig Sands, Ashley Smith and Joshua Cockroft who have been working hard to get us through the design phase, and to David Paterson and Keegan Hepburn who have been working through the preload on site, plus the wider Apollo team for the support on this mammoth project! We will continue to work closely with our trusted consultants and sub contractors to get this project moving through 2025. Well done everyone! 👏 You can read more about this project here: https://lnkd.in/gZnmsYek #designandbuild #construction #airport

An exciting day for the airport campus today, with Pratt & Whitney and Air New Zealand announcing a $249 million expansion of the Christchurch Engine Centre. The Engine Centre is an incredible asset for Christchurch, with a reputation as a world leader in the maintenance, repair and overhaul of aircraft engines from all over the world. Today’s announcement will enable the Engine Centre to service Pratt & Whitney’s GTF (geared turbofan) engine, as well as the V2500 engine. The 200 new jobs the expansion will create is great news for our local economy, workforce, and community.  We can’t wait to see the facility take off and be up and running by end of 2026. From left: Christchurch Engine Centre General Manager Graham Jack, Mayor Phil Mauger, Pratt and Whitney President Shane Eddy, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, Air New Zealand Chair Dame Therese Walsh, Christchurch Airport Chief Executive Justin Watson and Lynne Te Aika (Ngāi Tūāhuriri).

  • This morning the Apollo team received confirmation that practical completion has been achieved on the new Coolpak Coolstores facility located in Rolleston. 🙌 After chatting with the PM on the job Garry North, it is clear that this project has been a huge success. The facility, which broke ground in January of this year was handed over early, and has fulfilled the need for the client to get in early and be fully operational from Monday 11 November. The 4,500m2 facility is a welcome addition to their established facility on Detroit Drive and increases their storage capacity for the ongoing demand for dairy products in Aotearoa. The success of this project was a team effort. We would like to thank our client Coolpak Coolstores for trusting us with your project, the project team, Garry North, Alan Baddeley, Chris McCloy, Caitlin-Rose Barker and Lauren O'Leary, and the wider Apollo team for the support shown throughout the project. As always, shout out to the hard working subbies and our trusted consultants for your commitment to excellence. We couldn’t have done it without you! Well done everyone. 👷♀️👷♂️ #construction #coolstore #designandbuild

Seeing the impact of bringing business and causes together is what gets us out of bed in the morning – since 2022, Apollo Projects has been a major contributor to our programme that provides funding for secondary school students who may otherwise miss out on competing in regional and national sporting events due to financial constraints.   Apollo’s large-scale, ongoing commitment has impacted hundreds of young people including, most recently, students from Te Aratai College in Christchurch who have shared an insight into what the funding meant to them.
