As the year draws to a close, we continue to pause and reflect on our journey. Today, we honour another great FMANZ stalwart – Anthony Van Meer CFFMANZ – a dedicated member of our whānau who has completed his nine-year board tenure. Since his election in 2015, Anthony has been a transformative force within FMANZ, bringing not only expertise but also a genuine passion for advancing the facilities management profession. His commitment to advocacy and raising the profile of FM in New Zealand has been unwavering. Anthony’s involvement in the ISO Mirror Committee has been a cornerstone of his contributions, ensuring that New Zealand’s voice is represented in global conversations about standards and best practices. His work has strengthened FMANZ’s alignment with international benchmarks, benefiting both members and the wider industry. Highly respected and well-liked, Anthony will return as a judge for the Ngā Tohu a FMANZ Awards in 2025. This year, he brought his wisdom and quick-witted humour to the judging panel for the first time, helping to put finalists at ease during interviews. We are fortunate that he will continue to inspire excellence within our community during next year’s awards. Beyond his professional achievements, Anthony embodies the vibrant spirit of FMANZ, bringing a fun and creative energy to the FM community. A highlight of 2023 was seeing Anthony perform with his band, 'The Mule,' at FM Summit in Ōtautahi Christchurch, where his talent and enthusiasm for the trumpet brought people together and created unforgettable memories. Anthony’s thoughtful approach, combined with his dedication to both the serious and social aspects of FMANZ, has left a lasting impact on the organisation. Ka rawe. While his board tenure concludes, we look forward to his ongoing contributions to the industry he has so deeply enriched. #FMANZ #FM #facilitiesmanagement #inspiringleaders #fmexcellence #peopleofFM

Our regional branches have enjoyed successful end-of-year celebrations - the perfect way for members to wrap up the FM year by coming together, reflecting on 2024 and looking ahead to next year. FMANZ Otago kicked off the festivities with a tour of Emerson's Brewery in Dunedin, followed by a craft-beer tasting session. It was a wonderful evening filled with insightful conversations, shared stories and lots of laughter. Meanwhile, it was a real team effort for Wellington members as they saw the year out with a classic Kiwi BBQ. Everyone pitched in to prep, chop and cook up a delicious meal. A special shout out to Jessie Davidson AFMANZ and Paris Studd for showcasing their skills on the BBQ, and to Phoenix Lavin (PFMANZ) for coordinating the catering. A massive thank you also to Karen Hayward and the Spark FM team for all their hard work in hosting the event. The evening provided the perfect backdrop for farewelling Bruce Kenning, CFFMANZ as a committee and board member. FMANZ Waikato opted to join together for an informative behind-the-scenes look at the intricacies of ensuring safe and seamless travel from an FM perspective at Hamilton Airport, followed by drinks and nibbles. A huge thank you to committee members Delwyn Miles and Gwendolynn Smith for organising the celebration and to COMMERCIAL DOOR SERVICES LIMITED for sponsoring a lovely gift that was fittingly drawn by Delwyn. A big appreciation shout-out to Andrew Hugill from Hamilton Airport NZ for hosting the tour. Auckland, Canterbury and Manawatu members were treated to informal, relaxed gatherings, enabling members to mix and mingle over drinks and nibbles and raise a glass to the hard FM mahi of 2024. A highlight of the evening for FMANZ Canterbury was the introduction of Tim Jackson as the new branch committee chair - congratulations Tim! Overall, the end-of-year celebration events were a fantastic way to wrap up 2024 and celebrate the achievements of the FMANZ community. Bay of Plenty members can look forward to catching up at a 'welcome to 2025' event in the New Year. #FMANZ #FMANZOtago #FMANZWellington #FMANZManawatu #FMANZBayofPlenty #FMANZWaikato #FMANZAuckland #FMANZCanterbury #facilitiesmanagement

As we approach the end of the year, it's a perfect time to pause and reflect on our journey. FMANZ is fortunate to have an incredible community of remarkable individuals who selflessly contribute their time and expertise to elevate our industry - whether through regional branch committees, sub-committees, or the FMANZ board. Today, we shine a spotlight on one of these remarkable individuals - Bruce Kenning, CFFMANZ - who stepped down from the board having served the maximum nine-year tenure. Elected in 2015, Bruce quickly rose to the position of chair just a year later in 2016, becoming the longest-serving board chair in FMANZ history. Known for his phenomenal reliability and commitment, Bruce has consistently gone above and beyond for our association, notably during the challenging times of COVID-19 and stepping in as acting CEO during the transition of CEO’s. His leadership ensured that our organisation survived and continued to thrive during those and many other turbulent moments. We would not be the FMANZ we are today without him. Thank you, Bruce Kenning, CFFMANZ, for your nine years of unwavering service. Ka pai! Congratulations to Foodstuffs North Island Limited on achieving an impressive 6 stars NABERSNZ 'Whole Building' rating for its Landing Drive Support Centre. A special shout out to our FMANZ Sustainability & Environmental Impact award winner, Andrew Reynolds and the wider team for doing the mahi to claim this well-deserved accolade. Great to see such leadership! #FMANZ #facilitiesmanagement #NABERSNZ #sustainability #energyefficiency
🌱 Foodstuffs Support Centre earns ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐NABERSNZ rating 🌍 We’re thrilled to announce that our Landing Drive Support Centre has just achieved a NABERSNZ ‘Whole Building’ rating from NZGBC – and not just any rating, but 5 out of 6 stars. This means our head office is performing at a market-leading level for energy efficiency, and among an elite group of less than a handful of buildings to achieve a 5 or above in all four ratings, for its design, build, fitout, and ongoing performance. Backed by EECA (Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority), NABERSNZ measures energy use during a building’s operational phase, going beyond construction sustainability ratings. This achievement highlights our ongoing commitment to reducing our energy footprint and contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable future for all Kiwis. With solar panels on our Distribution Centre roof supplying part of our power and continuous monitoring of our energy use, we’re easing pressure on the national grid and reducing reliance on fossil fuels. 🌟 Big shout-out to our amazing Property team. Special thanks to @Andrew Reynolds, the Foodstuffs Facilities team, FMANZ - Facilities Management Association of New Zealand and Direct Control Limited for their expertise in the NABERSNZ assessment and for continually fine-tuning our building's energy efficiency. 🙌 A huge thank-you to the wider Landing Drive staff for valuable feedback on lighting, air-conditioning, EV charging and more - every bit helps us improve. 🏆 The Support Centre’s performance backs up its sustainable credentials, having been awarded a 5 Star Green Star Design rating for the building’s design, a 6 Star Green Star Built rating for its construction, and a 6 Star Green Star Interiors rating for the fitout. We’re committed to ongoing improvements because being environmentally conscious matters - to us, our customers, and our Taiao (environment). 🌿 🛒 When you shop at Foodstuffs, you’re supporting a company that’s making real sustainability efforts behind the scenes. 👉 Check out our solar performance in real-time: https://lnkd.in/dXTMZMYw 🌐 Learn more on our website: https://lnkd.in/dUfnbw3f #FoodstuffsNZ #Sustainability #NABERSNZ #EnergyEfficiency #ProudlyKiwiOwned #NZGBC #HereForNZ Chris Quin Catherine Tardif Cindy Chaimowitz Dominic Quin Jo Allan Jonathan Box Julian Benefield Lindsay Rowles Lisa Oldershaw Simon Kennedy Wendy Hammonds Joanne van den Berg Jonathan Box Andrew Reynolds Andrew Gaukrodger Willa Hand Stefan Herrick Esther Gordon Clinton Rowling Sonia Beal Sophie Parish
