What a special way to wrap up the year! 🌟 Yesterday, we came together for our End of Year Celebration—a chance to reflect on everything we’ve achieved in 2024 and share the exciting things we’ve got planned for 2025. Over kai, we chatted about the initiatives we delivered this year, including our latest Young Workers Research, and what’s coming up in the first half of next year. We ended with a fun trivia quiz (and yes, it got competitive)! It was so heartwarming to connect with new and familiar faces, sharing laughs and much-needed moments of togetherness. For those who couldn’t make it, you were missed, and we hope to see you soon. This event reminded us why we do what we do. It’s not just about the work—it’s about the people, the connections, and the shared vision for a better future. Here’s to 2024 and all that’s ahead in 2025. Thank you for being part of this journey with us. Wishing you all a safe and happy summer break! 💛

The Government's new Gender Pay Gap Toolkit was launched by the Manatū Wāhine Ministry for Women, New Zealand this week! The toolkit includes a common methodology for calculating your gender pay gap, an online calculator, a downloadable worksheet, and supporting guidance. "Many businesses are taking steps to improve their gender pay gaps, and so I encourage all businesses to be courageous and calculate their gaps. This is not about casting judgement on those who have wider gender pay gaps but, instead, is a useful tool that encourages organisations to look beyond the numbers." - Minister for Women Nicola Grigg Find the toolkit along with resources, case studies, and expert connections on the Pay Gap Insights Hub: https://lnkd.in/g3cHnYiQ. #GPGToolkitNZ #PayGapInsightsHub #genderpaygap #payequity #paytransparency

📺 This morning, our Gender at Work Specialist Teresa Lee 李慧 joined TVNZ's Breakfast to discuss the findings of our latest research on Workplace Experiences of Young Women and Non-Binary People. 🎉 In her interview, Teresa highlighted some of the significant challenges young people are facing at work today. Many report experiencing bullying and harassment, feeling pressured to minimise parts of their identity to fit in, and having limited access to crucial personal and professional development opportunities. Her message was clear: creating workplaces that are safe, flexible, and inclusive is essential for everyone. Young people are advocating for a future of work that will benefit all generations. Flexible working options, safe environments, and inclusive cultures are goals we can all support. 🚨 New Research: Workplace Insights from Young Women & Non-Binary People 🚨 In July 2024, we surveyed over 600 young workers across Aotearoa to better understand their workplace experiences. 🔹 38% reported experiencing bullying, harassment & discrimination in their current workplace 🔹 Many feel pressure to hide their identity: 76% of non-binary respondents downplay their gender 54% of rainbow respondents conceal their sexuality 51% of disabled respondents mask their disability 30% of Māori respondents suppress their ethnicity 🔹The presence of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) strategies makes a difference: Only 14% of young workers intend to stay in workplaces without formal DEI policies This jumps to 73% in organisations with visible DEI initiatives 💬 “I think truly trying to listen and hear our voices really goes a long way. Even the language used around young people can be dismissive of our experiences, so when I find someone in the workplace who is able to empathise with me - that makes me feel so much more valued in the workplace.” - Survey Respondent Creating safe and supportive workplaces benefits everyone, especially young people entering the workforce. To address the issues identified by the research, we will consult young women & non-binary people to release a Workplace Toolkit with practical guidance on engaging and supporting young people in 2025. Find out more here 👉 https://lnkd.in/gF6Pu99a A huge thank you to Tania Domett from Cogo for conducting this research for us.

💰 Why Pay Inequality for Women Remains a Critical Issue Our CEO, Dellwyn Stuart, recently joined Frog Recruitment's Managing Director Shannon Barlow for a powerful conversation on pay inequality—and the hard truths we can no longer ignore. Did you know Māori and Pasifika women in New Zealand are effectively working for free for the rest of the year? Dellwyn shares eye-opening insights from the Pay Gap Insights Hub, uncovering why this persistent issue still affects so many wāhine in Aotearoa. Many companies believe they're “gap-free,” but when they look closer, the story changes. Did you know that Pasifika women in Aotearoa earn 79 cents for every dollar a Pākehā man earns? And for Māori women, it's 81 cents. For Asian women, it's 82 cents. These figures are more than statistics—they represent the lived reality of inequity in our workplaces. The Gender At Work Community believes equity isn't a privilege, it's a fundamental right. We're proud to share the launch of the Pay Gap Insights Hub - a platform for reporting and closing pay gaps and making real change. www.paygapinsightshub.nz #paygaps #payinequity #genderatwork

Did you know that 84% of individuals who experience Menopause feel that the symptoms negatively impact their work? Or that only 15% felt comfortable to communicate this with their employer? The conversation around Menopause has grown over the last few years, and we're proud to be regularly discussing it together with our partners at the Gender At Work Community. This year, to acknowledge World Menopause Day, we had an honest conversation with Danae Young and Sheronika Shandil from our Wellington teams about the very real impact of Menopause on their day-to-day. 💃 It's World Menopause Day 2024! 💃 Today, we invite everyone to pause and take a moment to talk and learn about menopause - te ruahinetanga in te reo Māori. Although menopause is experienced by half the world's population, it's still often stigmatised and not discussed openly. By continuing to raise awareness and share resources, everyone can play a part in ensuring people have the knowledge and support they need to navigate this important life stage. To mark this day, we asked New Zealanders: What do you wish people knew about menopause? Check out their answers in the posters below, and test your knowledge by taking our Menopause Quiz 👉 www.bit.ly/menoquiz2024 Let's keep talking about menopause and creating more supportive spaces for everyone. #WorldMenopauseDay #MenopauseAwareness #Menopause #GenderEquality #GenderatWork
