A Year to Remember: Wishing You All a Joyful Holiday Season As the year winds down, I find myself reflecting on 2024 as though it were a story in progress—a chapter filled with challenges, triumphs, and the people who made it all worthwhile. This year felt like setting out on an unpredictable journey. Some days were like calm, clear skies where everything flowed seamlessly. Other days were like navigating uncharted waters, where persistence and trust became the compass. But what truly shaped this story were the incredible characters who joined along the way—clients, colleagues, family, and friends who turned moments into milestones. At Pervinder Davies Law we witnessed growth, tackled complex challenges, and celebrated wins, big and small. Beyond the office, there were personal chapters that brought joy—like watching my son grow and being reminded of what truly matters at the heart of it all. As we close this chapter of 2024, I want to thank everyone who played a part in this year’s story. Waipā District Council Alcohol Policy Update The Waipā District Council has adopted new policies and bylaws to better manage alcohol in the community. Here are the key points: New Policies and Bylaws: Local Alcohol Policy, Alcohol Control Bylaw, and Alcohol Fees Bylaw. Effective Dates: Alcohol Control Bylaw: December 16, 2024 Local Alcohol Policy: March 10, 2025 Alcohol Fees Bylaw: July 1, 2025 Key Changes: Higher Risk On-Licence Trading Hours: Reduced from 9am-2am to 9am-1am. Off-Licence Cap: Limits the number of off-licences in main shopping centres. o Kihikihi 2* o Te Awamutu East 2* o Te Awamutu Central 7* o Cambridge Central 8* o Leamington North 2* o Leamington Central 4* *The numbers will be updated to reflect the number of off-licences in force when the LAP is adopted on 10 March 2025. Sensitive Facilities: Added community facilities, rehabilitation centres, and marae to the list of sensitive facilities.
