Updates

  • As the year draws to a close, Charlotte, our managing partner, is reflecting on a busy but transformative year with PomPom. What was the highlight of the year for you?🤍 Being a part of the growth that Work Ready Kāpiti has seen this year with two new initiatives for youth in the region, one of which is being piloted in the hope that future funding will be secured to support youth to build their employability skills so that they can successfully transition into the workforce. It's such vital mahi and with rangatahi of my own - I really see the urgency and need for support of this nature for our youth, and the fact that it is also within my own community keeps it even closer to my heart. What is a lesson 2024 has taught you?🤍 Two quotes have resonated with me this year.  "Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much" and "We reap what we sow." These quotes have held meaning for me in the work arena, in my personal life and even in raising my children. I believe that we should give generously of what we have - whether that be time, money, love, or kindness - we will always be provided for if we have a little faith and give what we have to give. This year I have seen that to be true in my own life and in our business and that only increases my faith to trust in giving, even when I feel like I can't. I hope that 2025 sees me step out further and take even greater steps to create a real impact on the communities and people that I serve. 🤍

  • PomPom is thrilled to announce that we’ll be managing communications and events for Tauranga Moana Biosecurity Capital (TMBC), an organisation driving impactful biosecurity initiatives in the Bay of Plenty🪸  TMBC’s work encompasses protecting our marina, fresh water, forests, urban areas, orchards and farms from biosecurity threats, supporting iwi in safeguarding taonga and cultural heritage and inspiring rangatahi to become future leaders in biosecurity. Guided by Mātauranga Māori and scientific innovation, TMBC is at the forefront of biosecurity protection in a region we’re proud to call home 🌊 We're excited to champion TBMC's vision and the vital mahi they do to make the region safer, more informed, and prepared for the future 🌱

  • What a lovely post from Heather Hutchings! She had very kind things to say for Gratitude Friday last week. We're so grateful to work with YOU, Heather! ❤️ ___________________________________________ "Today’s shout-out goes to two phenomenal women, Charlotte Tollervey and Natalie Rutene from PomPom Events & Marketing  These two are truly inseparable—like strawberries and cream. Is it really only 6 or 7 years we’ve known each other? It feels like you've both always been there, cheering me on and guiding me. From my time as a Board Member for Business Kapiti Horowhenua (Electra Business Awards) to my current role supporting the judges, you both have consistently supported me with patience, and wisdom. Your unique strengths and seamless collaboration are second to none, and I am endlessly grateful for everything you bring to my world. Natalie, your attention to detail leaves me speechless. You know how detail-oriented I am not, and yet you manage to keep me on track every step of the way! I can always count on you to make sure nothing slips through the cracks. From helping me navigate IT to handling communications, you patiently guide me, ensuring I’m set up for a smooth handoff to the judges. Planning with you is such a joy as we work to support our judges the best way we can. Charlotte, your warmth and gentle firmness keep me grounded. No matter where you are, whether running on the beach or in the middle of something, you’re always there to answer my call. You’re my sounding board, my creative inspiration, and your positive energy lights up every conversation we have. No challenge seems too big with you by my side—you have a magical way of flipping a problem and finding creative solutions I would never have thought of. Together, you both make an extraordinary team. The countless events PomPom has brought to life around New Zealand are a testament to your talent and dedication. Thank you for being such wonderful friends and colleagues. I am so grateful to walk this path with you, and I look forward to creating even more magic together for the 2025 awards!"

  • What an honour! Last week, we had the absolute pleasure of managing the 2024 New Zealand Tourism Awards alongside Tourism Industry Aotearoa (TIA). This prestigious event rounded off an action-packed day following the TIA Tourism Summit, celebrating the best in New Zealand tourism. A massive congratulations to all the winners, with a special mention to RealNZ for taking home the Supreme Tourism Award! 🎉 A huge thank you to all the sponsors who made the night possible, especially Air New Zealand as the naming sponsor. It’s thanks to the support of local businesses that awards like these can take place. And of course, a big shoutout to Jesse Mulligan — your professionalism and humour helped make the night unforgettable! Thanks for the incredible pics Focal Point Photos! Well, that’s a wrap! • Volunteers are essential to the success of community events across New Zealand, bringing valuable local insights, dedication, and skills that amplify each event’s impact. Working alongside them ensures that our efforts align with shared goals for positive community outcomes. Managing volunteers effectively means clear communication, aligning roles with their strengths, and respecting their time. When volunteers feel appreciated and supported, their enthusiasm shines through in everything they do. Rotary's commitment to sustainability and community impact is something we are proud to support. From sourcing locally to reducing waste, we’re able to plan events that leave a lasting, positive mark. A huge thank you to the Rotary Papanui volunteers featured here in these photos for their hard work at the recent Ecobulb rollout at Burnside Bowling Club in Christchurch! #EventManagement #RotaryVolunteers #CommunityImpact #VolunteerManagement #NewZealandEvents

  • PomPom Events & Marketing was proud to support Genesis and Ecobulb Limited in Christchurch over the weekend as the event managers for this important initiative! 💡 Together, we helped local households make the switch to more efficient lighting alternatives, with up to 5 free Ecobulbs offered to eligible Genesis and Frank Energy customers. With around 50% of NZ homes still using inefficient incandescent or halogen bulbs, this initiative is a great step towards energy efficiency. Here too many more great community events supporting the communities of Aotearoa! #EventManagement #PomPomEvents #EnergyEfficiency #Sustainability #ChristchurchEvents #GenesisEnergy #Ecobulbs

We’ve partnered with Ecobulb Limited to help provide Kiwi households with more efficient lighting alternatives 💡 Currently, around 50% of households in New Zealand still have inefficient incandescent or halogen light bulbs. Over the weekend, eligible Christchurch customers of both Genesis and Frank Energy were invited along to get up to 5 free light bulbs to replace their old inefficient bulbs at home. These Ecobulbs last for up to 50 years and use up to 90% less electricity than the inefficient incandescent light bulbs they will replace. Customers will see a material cost reduction and a reduction of peak load for Genesis. 📸 The Genesis team helping customers redeem their free Ecobulbs.

  • At PomPom Events & Marketing, we believe that supporting mental health is key to fostering a happy and productive team. Mental well-being isn’t just about what we do at work, but how we look after ourselves and each other every day. 💚 Here are a few tips we use to support our team's well-being: ✨ Open Communication: We encourage regular check-ins, not just about work but about how we're feeling. Talking openly helps us understand and support one another better. ✨ Take Breaks: Stepping away from the screen and getting fresh air can do wonders for the mind. A quick walk or a few minutes of mindfulness can reset our energy. ✨ Celebrate Wins: No matter how small, we take time to recognise individual and team successes. It boosts morale and reminds us we’re all in this together. ✨ Encourage Balance: We promote flexible working hours to ensure everyone has time to recharge and prioritise what’s important outside of work. Together, let's prioritise well-being, support one another, and strive for a healthier, more balanced work environment. Wishing you all a peaceful and mindful Mental Health Awareness Week. #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek #TeamWellBeing #SupportEachOther #WellnessAtWork #PomPomEvents
