Kiwi PyCon: Gearing up for 2025 https://lnkd.in/gYrJKehW Kiwi PyCon 2024 – our 13th Python conference since 2009 (https://lnkd.in/g4tqBpra) – was an amazing three-day event with 219 participants enjoying 4 workshops, 22 presentations, a live coding competition, 2 inspiring keynotes, a panel discussion, a posters session and of course Lightning Talks (https://lnkd.in/gg4hTbFj). Check out the videos (https://lnkd.in/gd48Zehc), the photos (https://lnkd.in/gmn3-zKR) and the sponsors (https://lnkd.in/gSq64uht) of this conference. Kiwi PyCon 2025 will again be in Wellington – we are currently finalising the exact date and location. Want to help in 2025? We are all volunteers and many hands make light work, so we are always looking for more people to join the crew! Maybe you can help with our social media posts, organise volunteers, manage a social event at the conference, or maybe something we haven’t thought of yet! If you’re keen to get involved, email us at kiwipycon@python.nz or send a message to @Chelsea Finnie on our Slack (https://lnkd.in/gEiB9aiP).

# We are seven weeks out to Kiwi PyCon XIII! In a little under two months, hundreds of our fellow Python developers and technologists will be joining us in Wellington for three days of learning, teaching, and networking. In this post we’ll be giving you the run-down of what you’re getting for your ticket. This is the thirteenth Kiwi PyCon and we think it’s the best line up we’ve had yet. https://lnkd.in/gCjSnm9V

Hey Everyone! We're still accepting proposals for posters for the poster session at Kiwi PyCon! Do you want to talk about/show off your project/research/hobby? The poster session is a great way to do that in a lower-pressure-than-a-presentation setting. All the details can be found at the link. Proposals submissions close on 30 June (AoE). You don't have to have made the poster already to submit a proposal for one! We can't wait to see you there. https://lnkd.in/g8vp4br2

Kiwi PyCon Schedule! The complete schedule for Kiwi PyCon XIII is live! https://lnkd.in/dzuqwtjG Go! Go check it out! Then, when you’re back, read on for a few more details. Looking over the final schedule, we can’t tell you how excited we are to bring you all to Wellington this August. We had exactly 100 talk submissions on a fantastic array of topics. As our teams were reviewing, discussing, and finalising details, it became clear that this is going to be the best Kiwi PyCon line-up yet. We hope you agree! The international line-up this year includes a number of first-time speakers at Kiwi PyCon, as well as cherished members of the community we are delighted to welcome back. As you browse the programme, note that we’ve marked sessions with more advanced subject material in dark green – our goal this year has been to have an even spread of friendly-to-all talks as well as deeper-dive talks side-by-side for your choosing. Highlights: * 4 half-day workshops to choose from on Friday (optional) * “Race Condition” our Friday night social event and coding competition * 2 inspiring keynote addresses from our invited speakers * 22 fantastic talks to choose from throughout Saturday and Sunday * a panel discussion and poster sessions on Saturday * Lightning Talks on Sunday (always a highlight) We’d like you to spread the word! Share the schedule around, and tell us what you’re most looking forward to seeing. We’d also like to invite you to take the images from the carousel on the schedule page and post them on your own social media, whether you’re the presenter, or looking forward to seeing the presentation. Our speakers will appreciate the support. Kiwi PyCon is being held from 23-25 August in Wellington. Tickets are on sale now and sponsorship positions are available. Three days full of workshops, talks, coding competition, panel discussion, poster sessions, and of course Lightning Talks – take your time browsing what’s on offer this year. And then get your ticket and join us! https://kiwipycon.nz/

It’s the final week to submit your talk proposals for Kiwi PyCon XIII in Wellington this August! The cutoff for submitting your talk proposal is the 23rd of May anywhere on earth. To be specific: that means that as long as it’s still the 23rd of May *anywhere* on planet earth, you can still submit your talk. (That actually means that people in New Zealand, having the best timezone on Earth, have until the end of Friday NZ time). If you happen to be attending PyCon in Pittsburgh this week, you’ve got until the last day of the conference to submit your talk to Kiwi PyCon, and come to New Zealand to see us in August! Tell your friends! Spread the word! Remember: if you create a submission today, you have right up until the deadline to edit it and improve it. So if you have half a great idea, you’ve got all you need to get started, as long as you remember to get the other half sorted before the end of the 23rd of May. We look forward to reading your proposal. See you there! https://kiwipycon.nz/
