Disabilities can take many forms – some visible to the outside world, some not. At work, everyone deserves to be treated fairly and have reasonable accommodations. Here are some ways to create a more accessible workplace. - Build a culture of respect and support - Offer assistive technology (headphones, talking devices, braille displays...) - Create sensory 'break zones' - Remove physical barriers in pathways #WorkplaceWellbeing #EAP #InclusiveWorkplace #EmployeeSupport

About us
Vitae is New Zealand’s fastest-growing, nationwide provider of workplace wellbeing and employee assistance services. We focus on enhancing the productivity and success of your business by enhancing the wellbeing of your staff. We work closely with a range of clients, from large, national organisations to small and medium sized businesses and organisations, each with different problems and pressures. One thing they’ve all learnt is that whether behind a desk, a wheel or a workbench, employees who are healthy, resilient and balanced are far more productive than those who are not. That’s the philosophy behind our name: Vitae (which means 'of life'). We constantly see many times over the positive effect that a healthy workplace has on business productivity, and can confidently say that ‘when life works better, business works better’.

This is such a crucial message! We believe in mental health care that works holistically to strengthen all aspects of our hauora - so that our work, home and community can thrive. Giving people freedom over their wellbeing journey and embracing empathy and humanity is always the best way forward. #WorkplaceWellbeing #EAP #MentalHealth
It’s no secret our mental health law and system need work. But we know significant, positive change is achievable, because there are many effective alternatives already thriving, and producing better outcomes, both here and overseas – they simply need more funding and support to become the norm. The Italian city of Trieste is one of these inspirational alternatives. Trieste’s innovative mental health care model – in full swing for over 50 years! – heroes the dignity, autonomy and inclusion of those of us with significant mental distress, with many parallels to kaupapa Māori approaches in here in Aotearoa. Violence at work often comes from misplaced or untreated anger. We believe that encouraging at-risk men to seek support early leads to processing these emotions in a healthy way. If you feel on edge or know someone who might benefit from talking to someone, call our wellbeing team at 0508 664 981 or email assistance@vitae.co.nz

34.5% of the people we work with identify as male, and today on #InternationalMensDay we'd like to highlight them. Sadly, men suffer from higher suicide rates than women on average and can often be overlooked when it comes to mental health; so let's show our support and appreciation to the men in our circles – our colleagues, family, friends and more – and thank them for the value they bring to our lives. Remember: you are loved, you are important, and it is never weak to ask for help.

Thanks to Elliot Clarke, CFA, CAIA, Maureen Dollard, Gemma David, Glen Poole and our keynote speaker Sophie Scott OAM for their contributions to the day. We also had a valuable panel conversation from the CEOs of our member providers discussing how we can attract and retain good clinicians in the workplace. Thanks to Harry Parker, Glenda Schnell, Christine Field and Alexina Baldini for their thoughts around an essential topic and their support of EAPAA.
