One of the four great beauties of the Shanghai School of Painting, Hangzhou's Tang Bohu!

Tang Yun was a representative of the Shanghai School of Painting, and was known as one of the "four great beauties of the Shanghai School" along with Jiang Hanting, Zhang Dazhuang, and Lu Yifei. He was a master of ink and wash painting, and was known as "Hangzhou's Tang Bohu." Tang Yun considered himself a Hangzhou native throughout his life. His flower and bird paintings were fresh and elegant, and his calligraphy was relaxed and graceful. He was also a collector and connoisseur, and his collection of eight Man Sheng teapots was famous far and wide. He even named his study "Eight Teapots Studio." In 1935, he and Pan Tianshou, Lai Chusheng, and others initiated the establishment of the "Chun Society" painting and calligraphy research association, marking the beginning of a modern painting group in Hangzhou. Tang Yun was a chivalrous man throughout his life, and he made friends with Wu Hufan, Qian Shoutie, Pan Tianshou, Zhang Boju, Deng Sanmu, Li Kuchan, Lin Fengmian, Lai Chusheng, Jiang Hanting, Fu Baoshi, Bai Jiao, Li Keran, Lu Yifei, Lu Yanshao, Guan Shanyue, Wang Shixiang, and others, leaving behind many wonderful stories.
