| I went to Dali again for this hidden gem. Shaxi Ancient Town is the most relaxing place in Dali. During my stay here, I was free from the hustle and bustle of the world and could feel the peace of time. In this ancient town with a thousand years of history and culture, many places are filled with the flavor of history. I stayed in a very comfortable and high-quality Shaxi homestay, which is a private courtyard with nice furniture and bedding. It is worth mentioning that the homestay has its own restaurant, which is one of the few fine dining restaurants here. It has its own chef team and offers special Yunnan-style French cuisine. However, it takes a long time to prepare the meal, so you need to make a reservation in advance to enjoy it. Guests staying at the homestay can enjoy a 10% discount. On Fridays, there is a market in Shaxi where locals and people from the surrounding areas come to set up stalls and sell small items until 3 or 4 pm. The ancient town is not big, and the surrounding attractions include Sideng Street, the ancient stage, Xingjiao Temple, and Yujin Bridge. Sideng Street is worth a visit, with many interesting shops where you can stroll and take photos. I usually live a fast-paced life, but here I really relaxed my body and mind a lot.
