My concept, "The Ghost Shade" has received Commendation prize in the fifth Climate Creatives Challenge! 🏆🌡️ The idea is to use thermo-activated paint to represent the shadow of a theoretical tree in the middle of a massive concrete cityscape.👻🌲 This global competition focused on the critical theme of HEAT WAVES, with entries from 56 countries around the world. 🌍 "The Ghost Shade" highlights the urgent need for urban green spaces and climate adaptation. 📢📢 And the "Startup of the Week" is... LightMirror Founded by Oleksandra Bulanova and Dimitri Ionescu, LightMirror brings sunlight to hospitals. Their innovative reflective panels redirect natural light into buildings, reducing the need for artificial lighting and heating. Installed at the edges of roofs, these panels make sunlight a controlable asset, cutting costs and significantly improving the well-being of patients and residents. 🎙️ What have been your key milestones recently? ✅Received a grant for Rebuild Ukraine. ✅Making studies for the installation in three hospitals in New York. ✅Began testing various solutions to monitor and gather data on electricity and heat consumption. ✅Applied to two local tenders in Lithuania and Poland. ✅Participated in the Vilnius 3SI Forum and the Warsaw Women in Tech Summit. 🎙️How did the idea for this project come about? The inspiration for LightMirror came when our founders noticed how many streets in Paris were deprived of sunlight due to the tall buildings. This sparked the idea of using inclined mirrors at the edges of roofs to redirect sunlight onto those streets. The concept evolved into redirecting sunlight into buildings, optimizing natural light usage and reducing reliance on artificial lighting and heating. We then focused on healthcare facilities, because of their high energy consumption and the benefits of natural light on patient recovery. 🎙️How can our program help LightMirror? We are currently seeking our first pilot hospital in Spain. If you know of any, please share their physical addresses with us.
