Delving deep into the theme of ‘Wonders of the Marine World,’ this year’s Globeducate Virtual Arts Competition 🎨 brought together just under 1,000 young artists from 50 Globeducate schools worldwide to showcase their creative talents. Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) the annual competition allows pupils aged five to 18 to explore global issues through their creative work - fostering critical thinking, creativity, and empathy - skills essential for success in the modern world. This year´s competition focused on SDG 14: Life Below Water. There is a myriad of reasons why we encourage the creative arts in our schools - enhancing fine motor skills in the Early Years, cultivating Cultural and Historical understanding for teenagers, to us, as parents who sometimes need to be reminded of the beauty around us beyond our busy lives. Boundary Oak School, in Hampshire, UK, nestled in tranquil woodlands, recently hosted the GBIS Cluster Meeting, uniting Heads of GBIS schools for workshops and discussions designed to enhance cluster initiatives of The Journey, Literacy and Alternative Pathways. Our Head of School, David Jenkins, enjoyed this initiative and said: “While the meeting was a wonderful opportunity to share best practice, the highlight for me was session on the Journey. It was a wonderful opportunity to see how outdoor education and the Journey play such a pivotal and important role in the children's learning. With experience in international schools in Dubai and Milan, she joined Nobel Algarve Almancil this academic year. She has spent many years working at summer camps in the US, where she taught sailing and served as Lakefront Director.
