✨ NOVA Impact had the privilege of attending the highly anticipated PATLIB 2024 conference hosted by the TURKISH PATENT AND TRADEMARK OFFICE and organized by the European Patent Office, in Ankara, Türkiye. 🚀 The event was an incredible platform for exploring the latest advancements in intellectual property and patent information services for PATLIB centers. 🌍 Creating Societal Value through Research: Insights from Brussels and Beyond 💡 Incredible experience at the EU Science, Research and Innovation event in Brussels, where Hélder Lopes, Director of Research and Innovation at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, had the honor of discussing the importance of translating research into real societal value. We thank Maria Cristina Russo and the fantastic team, for the invitation and the opportunity to present the exciting work we're doing at Universidade Nova de Lisboa to communicate the impact of our research. During the panel, alongside inspiring experts like Laura Valkeasuo and Tomas De Groote, we shared key insights from the NOVA Research Impact Narratives Challenge: 🔑 Key Takeaways: - Embed impact into the research strategy from day one, ensuring every research question leads to tangible solutions. - Build a strong impact culture within institutions, bridging the gap between science and society. - Equip researchers with the tools and support to view their work through an "impact lens" and prepare to capture evidence of their contributions. - Communicate research impact effectively across platforms to engage diverse audiences. - Celebrate researchers who contribute with real-world case studies that demonstrate the societal benefits of their work. - Finally, focus on the purpose of research, not just the process—never lose sight of why your work matters! 🗣️ As Hélder Lopes emphasized: "Researchers should think about the impact of their work from the very beginning.
