  • January brought big changes in cybersecurity, digital infrastructure, and EU-wide tech governance. Here’s what you need to know: 🔹 Cybersecurity Upgrade: NIS 2 Directive Romania officially transposed the NIS 2 Directive, strengthening cyber defenses across 18 critical sectors. Stricter incident reporting, enhanced risk assessments, and a coordinated national response are now in place. A major step in securing our digital future! 🔐 🔹 Migration to the Governmental Private Cloud ☁️ The Romanian government has launched a procurement process to move public sector IT applications to a more secure, efficient cloud infrastructure. Deadline for bids: March 12, 2025. 🔹 Bridging the Digital Trust Gap 🎓 Only 65% of Romanians trust science & technology, the lowest in the EU. To address this, the Ministry of Education is updating high school curricula with essential digital skills like cybersecurity, software basics, and responsible social media use. 🚀 🔹 EU Cybersecurity Reinforcements The Cybersecurity Solidarity Regulation (effective Feb 4) establishes an AI-powered European Cybersecurity Shield, an emergency response mechanism, and a cybersecurity reserve to handle large-scale cyber incidents. A big move towards stronger EU-wide coordination! 🛡️ 🔹 Protecting Critical Technologies The EU is stepping up investment screening for AI, semiconductors, and quantum tech, aiming to prevent technology leaks and safeguard Europe's innovation edge. 👀 What to Watch in February 📡 5G Law Amendments → Debate on Feb 11 to align security & telecom infrastructure for 6G 📶 ANCOM Advisory Council → Decisions on telecom access fees & broadband expansion 💬 Which of these policy shifts do you think will have the biggest impact?
