Romania’s National Day, celebrated on December 1, commemorates the Great Union of 1918, when Transylvania, Basarabia, and Bucovina joined the Kingdom of Romania, forming the modern Romanian state. This historic event was formalized during the Alba Iulia National Assembly, symbolizing Romania’s unity, sovereignty, and the fulfillment of long-standing national aspirations. The day is marked with military parades, cultural events, and ceremonies, particularly in Bucharest and Alba Iulia, where national pride and heritage are honored. As partners and allies, USAG Black Sea joins in celebrating this important day by participating in joint ceremonies and events alongside Romanian military forces and government officials. These activities honor Romania’s history and reinforce the strong bonds between the United States and Romania. These celebrations highlight the shared commitment to security, cooperation, and the enduring partnership within NATO and beyond. Happy Romanian National Day! Last week U.S. Army Garrison Black Sea took a day off in order to build a stronger and more cohesive team. We took our resiliency day on the road to spend time with our Bulgarian teammates. Thank you to all the Army Civilians, ADOS and Rotational Forces that assist with delivering our IMCOM services. We had a great time developing and building a stronger team! During our resiliency day we played paintball…..why paintball for team building? Paintball helps build and develop interpersonal relationships - 1. TEAM BUILDING It encourages communication, coordination and teamwork as participants must strategise and execute plans together if they want to succeed. 2. LEADERSHIP SKILLS Individuals are often placed in leadership roles on the paintball battlefield, providing an opportunity to develop and showcase their skills at organising and progressing a team. Leaders must make quick decisions, motivate their team and adapt strategies on the go. 3. PROBLEM SOLVING It is a great way to train the brain to look at any new problem and approach it in a logical and pragmatic way to reach a positive resolution. 4. INCLUSIVITY A game of paintball can level the playing field, even more so if your team are all as inexperienced as each other, this allows employees of various ages, ranks or areas of expertise to have an equal opportunity to shine. 5. RISK TAKING AND RESILIENCE Paintball encourages taking calculated risks and learning from failure. 6. NETWORKING AND SOCIALISING Many people find it much easier to approach colleagues or other departments when they have a personal history with the person. A paintball day gives many opportunities for employees, whose paths rarely cross, to come together and play, which can help bring people out of their shells. 7. ENCOURAGES HEALTHY COMPETITION Playing any games can foster a healthy competitive nature in people, and paintball is fantastic for awakening that spirit amongst a group of employees. 8. STRESS RELIEF Taking a break from the usual work environment to engage in a high-energy activity can rejuvenate employees and improve their mental health. 9. MORALE BOOSTING Not only can participating in a fun, off-site activity like paintball relieve stress, but it can also boost morale and improve employee satisfaction and retention. 10. IMPROVES PHYSICAL FITNESS OF Paintball can be a physically demanding sport that improves cardiovascular health, endurance and agility. IMCOM-Europe Christopher Kuszniaj Ronis G.
