RWA Annual Report 2023 We are delighted to present the annual report on the activities of Russian Women in Arbitration (RWA) in 2023. In this report, we introduce you to those behind RWA projects and guide you through all the projects and events we had in 2023. In total, we held 20 invitation-only and public events aimed at strengthening a community of professionals passionate about dispute resolution and sharing our values. All of this would not have been possible without the support of our members and the arbitration community. We thank everyone who supports RWA projects. The purposes of RWA: • to serve as a networking platform for women involved in international arbitration and related spheres in Russia and abroad; • to discuss challenges that female arbitration practitioners face in Russia and beyond; • to share professional experience and discuss current arbitration-related issues; • to organize conferences, seminars, business breakfasts and other arbitration related events for female practitioners; • to spread knowledge among young practitioners and students; • to raise public awareness about diversity and equality in international arbitration in Russia; and • to inspire women to build a successful career in arbitration. The Second Cycle of the RWA Mentoring Programme Has Come to an End In April 2024, RWA launched the second cycle of the RWA Mentoring Programme that brought together 7 talented young female lawyers who aspire to develop in the field of international arbitration – Anna Gavkalyuk, Daria Zavershinskaia, Maria Zub, Irina Lisinskaia, Mariia Lukoianova, Albina Mamedalieva and Polina Perova. Over the course of 8 months, Mentees interacted with their Mentors, experienced dispute resolution lawyers, to develop their career paths. With the support of the Mentors, Mentees drafted and published articles, moderated arbitration events with leading lawyers, changed jobs, and did many other things to achieve their professional goals. The Mentors of the second cycle of the Programme were Denis Almakaev, Valeria Butyrina, Vadim Vunukainen, Anna Grishchenkova, Yulia (Iuliia) Dragunova, Olga Kokoz and Maria Lyubimova. On 12 December 2024, RWA held a private event for all participants of the RWA Mentoring Programme to celebrate the results of the Programme and unite our community. RWA would like to thank Chervets.Partners Law Firm for their hospitality and support in organising the event. We also thank everyone who participated in the RWA Mentoring Programme for their valuable input and support of our initiative. A new cycle of the Programme will be announced next year – stay tuned! RWA at Dubai Arbitration Week 2024 RWA, together with LGP Lawyers, successfully held an open event – “Art.BIT.ration: Talks on Regional Updates in Investment Arbitration” – under the auspices of Dubai Arbitration Week 2024. The event brought together speakers from the Middle East, CIS, Asia, EU and UK to discuss the most pressing issues in investment arbitration. The event was kicked off by a keynote speech of Anna Zeitlinger, Managing Partner, LGP Middle East, Dubai, Vienna. The panel discussion featured: • Fatema AlZayed, Case Manager, Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution, Manama; • Sue Ann Mah, Senior Manager (Legal), Singapore International Arbitration Centre, Singapore; • Anne K. Hoffmann, Hoffmann Arbitration, Dubai; • Baiju Vasani, Barrister and Arbitrator, Twenty Essex, London; • Elena Burova, Steering Committee Member, RWA, Senior Associate, LGP Middle East, Dubai. During the panel discussion, speakers shared their views on the ISDS reform and the “legitimacy crisis”, including the impact of the reform on different regions, as well as discussed the impact of sanctions on the future of ISDS, including the possible movement of international arbitration from the West to the East. Anna Avdulova, member of RWA Steering Committee and Associate at Ivanyan & Partners, moderated the event. We are grateful to all participants for supporting our event during a busy arbitration week and hope you enjoyed the discussion and networking with colleagues during the champagne reception.

RWA Get Together: Hong Kong Edition RWA held their first RWA Get Together in Hong Kong during the Hong Kong Arbitration Week 2024. The participants discussed a range of interesting topics, including changing career paths (for example, from Bolshoi Ballet Academy to Law School at the University of Hong Kong), impressions of Hong Kong Arbitration Week and more. We hope that the participants had fun, gained valuable contacts, and that the geography of RWA Get Together will only get wider in the future! RWA at ISTAW 2024 Russian Women in Arbitration (RWA) are glad to support the upcoming 2024 edition of Istanbul Arbitration Week – one of the main highlights on the arbitral scene in 2024. Elena Burova and Natalia Andreeva – members of the RWA Steering Committee – will speak at ISTAW 2024 next week. Elena will participate in the Panel “Investment Arbitration in Emerging Markets: Opportunities and Risks”, and Natalia will join the Panel “The Cost of Caution: Unpacking the Effects of Due Process Paranoia” to take place on 2 and 3 October 2024 respectively.
