The UNESCO Chair Strathmore at Strathmore University, in collaboration with Africa Energy Services Group Ltd, and supported by KawiSafi Ventures and the Green Climate Fund, is making strides towards achieving #SDG7. We are empowering women in Rwanda by providing them with the skills to design, install, operate, and maintain solar PV systems. Our impact: 1. Energy Access for All: Say goodbye to limitations of traditional grids! By training women in solar PV, we are building a local workforce that can bring clean energy directly to off-grid communities. Imagine remote villages finally getting light – it's a game-changer! 2. Empowering Women, Building Communities: This program equips women with green skills, fostering economic opportunities and social inclusion. It's a win-win for gender equality and a thriving Rwanda! Over 150 women have already been trained! But we are not done yet. Ensuring these women receive official recognition from utility regulators is crucial.
