#Throwback to the International Child Rights Day: A Time to Celebrate and Reflect Despite the difficult circumstances and ongoing conflict across Sudan, with support from Rädda Barnen - Save the Children Sweden we celebrated this day with children and their families in Golo, Central Darfur under the theme "Our Children, Our Future." The most affected and significant segment of society, our children, have endured all forms of violence in this conflict. Children in Sudan need an immediate ceasefire and meaningful progress towards a lasting peace agreement. #ChildRightsDay #OurChildrenOurFuture #PeaceInSudan #Hope

Delivering life-saving services in conflict affected areas in Sudan
نبذة عنا
Save the Children has worked in Sudan since 1983 and provides programming for children and families affected by conflict, displacement, extreme poverty and hunger. Many of the children and families we support are among the most vulnerable and hardest to reach. Today, we are one of the largest international NGOs in Sudan, providing a range of services to protect children’s lives and rights. We continue to deliver life-saving services in conflict -affected areas such as North Darfur, South Darfur, North Kordofan, and South Kordofan, with our country office located in Port Sudan.

As we wrap up 2024 at Can't Wait to Learn, we celebrate the milestones achieved, the challenges overcome, and—most importantly—the children whose lives have been transformed through the power of education. 🏆 This year, we were honoured with the 2024 Yidan Prize, one of the world’s most prestigious education awards. This recognition celebrates our innovative approach to bringing learning to hard-to-reach places and the resilience of the children we empower. 💡 After 4.5 years, our Global Partnership for Education (GPE) KIX research programme supported by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), in Uganda, Chad and Sudan was completed! It provided vital insights into scaling Can’t Wait to Learn, focusing on cost-efficiency, government adoption, and quality assurance. 🌍 Our global achievements in 2024 include: 🇺🇦 Ukraine Can’t Wait to Learn became the country's largest free, government-supported digital personalised learning platform for grades 1-4, fully aligned with the national curriculum and reaching over 130,000 Ukrainian children. 🇺🇬 Uganda Can’t Wait to Learn has been adopted by the District Local Government in Isingro district, with a pilot of 12,000 students set to expand in 2025. Our collaboration with Finn Church Aid, Norwegian Refugee Council, World Vision Uganda., and Save the Children Uganda continues in other regions. 🇱🇧 Lebanon Supporting host and refugee children in UNICEF Lebanon-led non-formal education programmes supported by European Commission's DG ECHO, Can't Wait to Learn supported children get back to learning, and more set for 2025. 🇯🇴 Jordan Can’t Wait to Learn reached children in both formal schools and non-formal learning centres in partnership with community-based organizations. Together with the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship, we are developing a web app to scale the programme to schools led by the government and NGOs. 🇸🇩 Sudan Save the Children in Sudan began implementing Can't Wait to Learn within a number of their programmes, and we engaged in promising discussions about forming a new partnership with SOS Children's Villages in Sudan. 🇹🇩 Chad Our colleagues at World Vision expanded their use of Can’t Wait to Learn in non-formal centres and schools. 🔬We always look to understand more! In 2024 we led research into how digital personalised learning can improve learning for children in conflict-affected countries in Ukraine, Lebanon, and Uganda! Here’s to a brighter 2025 for children affected by conflict, with more children accessing their right to learn, thrive, and dream. #UnlockLearningForAll #Innovation #EdTech #Sustainability #CantWaitToLearn War Child

#ChildProtection in armed conflict is a collective responsibility! This past week, we concluded the second training workshop for the armed forces, in Port Sudan. This workshop focused on the six grave violations against children in armed conflict. Professor Ahmed, representing the Minister of Social Development, emphasized the critical importance of understanding these violations. He urged participants to become advocates and ambassadors for children's rights across various state locations, stressing that children are both our future and our present. Save the Children calls for comprehensive and sound approaches to protect children, urging leaders to prioritize child protection and keep children's best interests at heart. They deserve a safe and dignified future. Humanitarian workers are also called upon to be at the forefront of providing essential services. Armed forces have a responsibility in preserving the safety and dignity of individuals in conflict. Together, let's continue to champion the rights and protection of children. #ChildProtection #HumanRights #Advocacy #Partnerships
