More powerful news 🔌 In a long-term agreement with Uniper we have have secured a yearly supply of electricity ranging from 2027-2032, covering a total of 6 TWh. Significant volumes of electricity are needed to power our 700MW electrolysis plant that will generate green hydrogen, which in turn will reduce iron ore to green sponge iron that will feed the steel production at our plant in Boden. Through this collaboration with Uniper, we have secured another important component of our plant's electricity supply. Read more about the news at our website!

Post #COP29 in Baku there are so many reflections and ideas to process for the future. But first some of our COP headlines: ✅ An anniversary The Leadership Group for Industry Transition was born out of the ambition of the 2019 UN Climate Action Summit in New York and at COP29 Azerbaijan the Group celebrated five years together. A milestone which coincides with a vital shift in work from creating momentum in hard-to-abate industries towards real global action as a public private co-operation platform. The need for both #leadership and private sector engagement is even more crucial now to achieve net zero. ✅ New members The growing ambition, scale, and geographical spread of LeadIT is seen in our expanding membership with six new companies joining in 2024. At COP29 Ashok Leyland and World Energy GH2 were announced. Ashok Leyland will add strength in the transport sector both in its value chain and sector transformation. More than 90% of the world’s transport energy still comes from fossil fuels. The transatlantic vision for #GreenHydrogen of Canadian-based company World Energy GH2 provides the prospect of a decarbonized future in heavy industry. ✅ Members meeting LeadIT member companies, amongst them Tata Group (Steel), Tata Motors, Steel Authority of India Limited, Dalmia Bharat Group, SSAB and Vattenfall met in the first week together with State Secretary, Håkan Jevrell,Regeringskansliet, Utrikesdepartementet and Additional Secretary, Naresh pal Gangwar MoEF&CC. Discussions focused on equal partnerships, pilots on the ground, technical co-development, urgency and ambition. ✅ An update on the India Sweden Industry Transition Partnership (ITP) presented by Rajasree Ray, Economic Adviser, Indian Ministry of Finance and State Secretary, Daniel Westlén Regeringskansliet, Klimat- och näringslivsdepartementet. The ITP is a deepened partnership within the LeadIT framework taking a whole-of-government public-private partnership approach. It has a focus on steel and cement with working groups on innovation, finance and carbon markets and has made promising progress with a real pipeline of projects emerging. Next stop is #COP30 in Belem, Brazil.. ✅ The LeadIT summit for member countries and companies Co-chaired by Sweden's Climate & Environment Minister, Romina Pourmokhtari and Indian Union State Minister for Environment, Kirti Vardhan Singh. The focus was on domestic achievements but also the progress of international co-operation. The UN Secretary-General’s special envoy Selwin Hart urged the group to move faster as well as widen and broaden public private engagement and act with urgency for a #JustTransition.
