Here's a hint: we prevented 80,000 single-use items from being thrown in the trash 🌍✨ BORROW is a rentable, reusable tableware solution that makes waste reduction convenient and accessible. Born from the same commitment to treading lightly on the earth as our Plates Collection, BORROW is designed for organizations of all types and sizes looking to reduce their single-use footprint, whether it's for a one-time event or long-term implementation. The idea is simple: If we use fewer resources, perhaps the earth can begin to heal. For this event, our set-up included dishwashing system within a mobile truck where we rinsed food scraps, sorted items and did additional rinsing and drying—all managed by the incredible Light My Fire team. Endless possibilities for enjoyment and impact 🌍 This year marked a significant moment in our journey at Light My Fire as we joined Street Food Festival Gothenburg (Sweden's largest street food festival) from August 29-September 1, united by a compelling mission: eliminate single-use items. Through our BORROW Program, which offers rentable, reusable tableware for events, festival and large gatherings, our team managed a set-up providing reusable plates, cups and Sporks, which kept 80,000 single-use items out of the trash. The heart of our operation was a mobile dishwashing system housed within a mobile truck—meticulously managed by our dedicated staff to rinse, sort and dry, so every item was ready for its next use. "This isn't complicated; it just needs planning and rethinking how we manage products and waste," notes our CEO Calill Odqvist Jagusch. Her vision? A ripple effect, inspiring cities everywhere to rethink their environmental impact. As part of our effort to provide circular solutions, we participate in local festivals, public events and custom engagements (like Almedalsveckan 🇸🇪) in Sweden through our BORROW Program – modular, reusable tableware for group dining experiences. As of January 1st, 2024, Sweden has banned disposable cups with over 15% plastic. With this new law aimed at halving the use of single-use plastics by 2026, we want to use our products to create a solution that eliminates waste. We believe that reusable, recyclable plastic holds the key to transforming our approach to plastic consumption, and we're excited to watch our BORROW Program continue to eliminate plastic waste ending up in landfills.
