Startup event people: There is no need to go to Slush this year if you want to be cool ❄️ Instead, enjoy a week in our region, and be blown away with what it has to offer. Yesterday we went to Skåne Innovation Day, which was more diverse and relevant than last year. The next coming days we will be at BioStock - Connecting Innovation and Capital to meet world-class life science founders and investors. Then close the week with an early Christmas Dinner with the Danish Startup Community at Matrikel1. All this is reachable within 1 hour by public transport. The temperature does stay above 0, and more family time in already-eventful November. Yesterday I signed the petition for a stronger, more competitive startup climate in Europe. The biggest economies on our continent make different regulations, making expansion within Europe complex. And making regulations, that's what Europe is good at. This approach has not shown very effective in producing startups that will shape our future, and it will get worse if we don't act. To get back our innovative edge, we need to let all countries work together. Yes, it will be hard, and the road will be long. The global StartupBlink ecosystem report for 2024 is out! Sweden did slide a place in the ranking to the 6th place globally. One place down from last year, but still the 2nd in Europe. 75% of the Swedish ecosystems are losing momentum, including the Skåne ecosystem. Time to take action! The sun is shining and some people already have their mind on the summer. So did the startups from Sten K. Johnson Centre for Entrepreneurship at Lund University and VentureLab by Lund University that showed what nine months of work look like during demo day. It is great to see what they worked on.
