Singapore hosted the 14th China-ASEAN Prosecutors-General Conference from 28 to 30 October 2024. The conference provided a valuable platform for heads of jurisdictions to discuss the hurdles in prosecution of financial crimes and emphasised the need to combat transnational crime across China and ASEAN. #AGCSingapore #CAPGC

The Attorney-General’s Challenge Cup, held on 4 November, made its return after a break due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event featured a friendly football match between prosecutors and members of the Criminal Bar. It was a unique opportunity to foster strong relationships between the AGC and the Bar. A delegation from AGC attended the 29th Annual Conference and General Meeting of the International Association of Prosecutors in Baku, Azerbaijan.   It was a fruitful time meeting with our counterparts and the delegation learnt a lot in preparation for Singapore to host the IAP Conference next year.   #IAPBaku2024 #IAPSingapore2025

As part of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Singapore and Australia, @agcsingapore welcomed delegates from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Attorney-General's Department, Australian High Commission, Singapore on 24th September 2024 to exchange views on international law issues of mutual interest to both countries. The delegation was hosted by Solicitor-General Ms Daphne Hong during their visit. #agcsingapore

#DidYouKnow that the reported number of scams has increased by almost 50% between 2022 and 2023?    To fight against scams, new scams-related offences were introduced in 2023 to deter persons in Singapore who hand over control of their bank account details or disclose their Singpass credentials, which scammers may use to commit scams and launder scam proceeds.   The inter-agency Sentencing Advisory Panel has published guidelines on how these new offences should be sentenced. Held on 26 July, the Forum saw Chief Legal Advisors and high level representatives from over 20 jurisdictions gather in Singapore to discuss trends and exchange ideas on dispute resolution. Key issues addressed at the event included challenges posed by the investor-State dispute mechanism to government measures to protect the environment and address climate change, and the use of alternatives to contentious proceedings such as mediation.

Last Friday, we had the pleasure of welcoming Chief Legal Advisors and key decision-makers on international dispute matters from more than 20 jurisdictions to Singapore. The #ForumOfChiefLegalAdvisors provided a high-level platform for Chief Legal Advisors to discuss trends and exchange ideas on dispute resolution. Key issues addressed at the inaugural event ranged from challenges posed by the investor-State dispute mechanism to government measures to protect the environment and address climate change, and the use of alternatives to contentious proceedings such as mediation.
