Feeling a little lonely this holiday season? Learn how volunteering can help you build meaningful bonds, and make your holidays brighter and more fulfilling. #volunteering

The festive season is upon us! While many of us gather to binge-watch holiday classics like Home Alone with our loved ones, it’s important to remember those who are in fact spending the holidays home alone. Many of these individuals are seniors who may have lost close friends and loved ones over the years or lack nearby support networks as family and friends live far away. While others enjoy feasts and festivities, these seniors spend the holidays in solitude, yearning for the warmth of companionship or the simple joy of sharing a meal. This Christmas, we hope to raise funds to sustain community initiatives that allow isolated seniors to form lasting bonds and build a strong support network for their golden years 💛 You can show your support by contributing $100 to bring cheer to an isolated senior this festive season. Just as Christmas lights shine through the darkness, your generosity can help light the path to new opportunities, hope, and growth. ✨🎄 Click on this link to donate today: https://lnkd.in/gSwSW4UY *All donations to Allkin that are $10 and above are eligible for a 250% tax deduction.

In a world that can feel increasingly divided, Allkin holds fast to the belief that bringing people together can be a powerful catalyst for positive change. Through Project Giveback, Allkin’s Youth Service engages youths aged 15 to 21 in meaningful volunteering activities that bridge generational gaps, reduce at-risk behaviours, and enable participants to become active community contributors. Project Giveback incorporates intergenerational interactions by having youths and seniors collaborate on various initiatives, such as upcycling, festive celebrations, and home improvement. Through sharing stories and skills, participants not only solve practical challenges, but also learn from one another in ways that break down barriers between age groups. Swipe to hear how Project Giveback has benefitted community members of all ages, from youths to seniors 👉 Thank you to the National Youth Council Singapore for supporting Project Giveback via the National Youth Fund! 💝 To learn more about Project Giveback, read the full article: bit.ly/givebacknyf

Can you operate a 3D printer? What about singing, dancing, or acting? At this year’s Year-End Creative Fest, the children of Allkin Student Academy proved that they can do all these and more! 🎭🛠 As Singapore embraces broader definitions of success, Allkin remains committed to the belief that every child deserves equal opportunities to thrive both within and beyond the classroom. This means creating diverse pathways for students to nurture their creativity, discover their passions and talents, and realise their fullest potential. That’s why Allkin Student Academy offers not only academic coaching, but also a holistic suite of enrichment programmes to enable children of all backgrounds to develop their abilities and confidence – all at zero cost! It is our sincere hope to equip the students with the skills and knowledge they need to not only navigate the challenges of today’s fast-paced society, but become compassionate leaders who actively contribute to their communities. The Academy’s inclusive approach to student development, reflected in the Year-End Creative Fest, would not be possible without the support of dedicated parents, generous partners including SP Group and Community Chest Singapore, and hardworking volunteers including students from Nanyang Polytechnic. Thank you for opening doors to precious opportunities for our students to build brighter futures for themselves. Let’s continue to foster a community of care that supports the next generation. 😊 Last but definitely not least, we are grateful to the students themselves for their hard work and enthusiasm in putting up an amazing Creative Fest! We can’t wait to see what more you can achieve in the next stage of your journey. 👣

Meet Gary, Prabin, and Jolene – a trio of volunteers who are making waves from their workplace to the community! 🙋♂️🙋♂️🙋♀️ These volunteers have not only rallied their colleagues to give back, but have also found unique ways to tap on their strengths, resources, and networks to make a difference. Last week, Gary, Prabin, and Jolene led a team of 11 colleagues to support the Teck Ghee community’s Thanksgiving Party – the latest of many collaborations facilitated by Community Workers from Allkin over the past two years. Their volunteering journey is proof that no contribution is too small, and that every one of us has the power to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others. Swipe to witness how Gary, Prabin, and Jolene play an active role in creating stronger, more resilient communities through sustained collaboration and a shared vision. 👉 This International Volunteers Day, we would like to thank all the volunteers who, like this trio, readily share your strengths to support efforts to build thriving and connected communities. Whether it’s mentoring children, befriending seniors, or anything in between, we believe there’s a place for everyone to be an active contributor. 👣 If you’re curious about how to take that first step, discover available volunteering opportunities at: https://lnkd.in/gtFMDsy6

While professional mental health support is important for persons facing mental health challenges, it’s not always suitable, sufficient, or sustainable on its own. At Allkin, we go beyond providing quality mental health services - we believe that peer support is key to building a stronger ecosystem of care! 🤗 Last week, Mun Heng, Principal Social Worker of our Care & Integration Division and Abel, Social Worker at our Mental Health Service, represented Allkin at the Asia Pacific Population Health Conference, where they shared about Allkin’s community-centric approach to mental health support. Amidst the challenges of the local mental health landscape, such as rising healthcare costs, a shortage of mental health professionals, and growing demand for mental health services, research underscores the untapped potential of peer support networks as often-underutilised resources to improve mental health. Allkin Mental Health Service has pioneered two initiatives that tap on peer support: 1️⃣ The Allkin Mental Health Befriending Programme aims to enhance social networks, alleviate social isolation, and improve emotional well-being of persons facing mental health challenges. Through the programme, trained Peer Support Specialists leverage their own lived experiences to support persons in recovery. 2️⃣ The Ambassador Programme is a platform that encourages persons facing mental health challenges and their families to develop meaningful social relationships and engage in mutual self-help, through an online chat group and self-organised activities such as festive celebrations. Harnessing peer support doesn’t just alleviate pressure on healthcare systems, it enables individuals to become active contributors who possess a greater sense of agency and control over their own mental health journey. A community-centric approach also invites us to strive towards a more holistic view of mental wellness and resilience, instead of narrowly focusing on clinical definitions of recovery. 🧠 Together, we can all play an important role in building collective mental wellness as a community! 🤝
