Halfway through B Corp Month, we're reflecting on the ongoing work that drives us forward. At Bettr, we're not just celebrating; we're continuing the journey of impact every day. 🌍 Moving Coffee Forward ☕️ We care deeply about the entire ecosystem - from seed to cup - ensuring everyone in the supply chain is positively impacted by our business. Through paying our farmers well, averaging over 100% above fair trade premiums in 2023, we ensure sustainable coffee cultivation for the future. ️Our partnership with Caravela Coffee underscores our commitment to quality and sustainability, highlighting the power of collaboration among B Corps in creating positive impacts across regions. Together, we empower farmers, invest in communities, and champion practices that sustain coffee production for generations. Moving Social Impact Forward 💛 At the heart of Bettr are our Social Programmes for marginalised groups. We adopt a whole-person approach to personal development, impacting every individual in a caring, compassionate, and meaningful way. Within the Bettr ecosystem, our roasters and baristas provide these individuals with training, paving the way for inclusive employment opportunities within the F&B industry. With over 12 years of empowering over 250 students in our social programmes, our dedication to transforming lives continues. Moving Environmental Impact Forward ♻️ With our strong commitment to environmental stewardship, sustainability lies at the very core of our endeavours. We prioritise minimising environmental impact from our academy classrooms to our daily operations. Striving for Net Zero carbon emissions by 2030, we have embarked on our journey to measure, track and reduce our carbon footprints with the Unravel Carbon to reach our goal! As B Corps, we are constantly making moves to create more inclusive workspaces, improve our climate impact, and respond to the ever-changing issues in the world. "How can we remain optimistic through life, and how can we as a society remain optimistic?" President Tharman Shanmugaratnam this thoughtful question during his closing fireside chat with DBS Bank CEO Piyush Gupta, and broached the topic of how we as a society can remain active and contribute to the community so that we feel happy, purposeful and optimistic throughout our life. This week, we participated in The Impact Beyond Summit 2024 by DBS Foundation knowledge partner to Heritas' Asia Impact First Fund. The day started with an engaging welcome address by Karen Ngui, Head of DBS Foundation and an exciting keynote session by Dan Buettner, New York Times bestselling author and founder at Blue Zones. This was followed by a plenary session where our CEO and Executive Director Wai Chiew CHIK spoke alongside fellow panellists Mary Ann Tsao (Chairman and Founding Director, Tsao Foundation), Gillian Tee (Founder, Homage), Nathaniel Farouz 高天禮 (Managing Director, Senior Living at Keppel Ltd.) and moderated by Eugene Hong, MD (Executive Director, Head Pharmaceuticals and Healthcare, DBS Bank). This was an insightful session on the topic of "How can we leverage technology and innovation to improve healthspan", where the importance of creating an ecosystem network and enabling elders was emphasised, and innovation, technology and AI can be utilised (with the right context) to effectively integrate and support elders to age in place and age healthily in all sense - physically, mentally, financially etc. Having launched Asia Impact First Fund last year thanks to DBS being an anchor investor, we continue to applaud the vital role of DBS Foundation in championing leading social enterprises. Our heartiest congratulations to the DBS Foundation Honourees Bettr, S4S Technologies , Bettermilk, Voibook, Du Anyam, Waste4Change, SEI, ImpactHK, Haqdarshak, IMDA - you are all leaders in your fields driving and creating meaningful impact! #impactinvesting #impact #socialenterprises #DBSFoundation

🌟 It's inspiring to see the dedication and commitment of the Leadership Council at The Majurity Trust in reshaping philanthropy! At Bettr, we truly resonate with your approach of being intentional in driving social impact. Just like the meticulous process of brewing coffee, we believe that every step in nurturing social initiatives requires careful thought and precision. Thank you for the warm welcome to the Foundry! We are excited by the potential for collaboration and innovation that lies ahead!
We’re privileged to have a committed group of donors, our Leadership Council, who share and back our belief in being intentional in our work at Majurity. This has been key to driving the impact we want to make in doing #philanthropy differently. We recently brought together our Leadership Council Members for the Annual Meeting to discuss possibilities in philanthropy. This group of visionary donors support our operating fund with an annual gift of $100K and above so that 100% of funds raised for our philanthropic funds go directly to our grantee partners over time. This year’s meeting featured an immersive #coffee brewing experience put together by our very own philanthropy team members Charles Tan and Jen Goh. The guided session took our members through the precision and effort it takes to brew a good cup of coffee, and illustrates the intentional approach we take in our work: 🔴 Just as coffee brewing demands accuracy and care, it is the same with the way we steward donors’ funds to social impact causes. Our grant managers also invest time, thought, care, and rigour in supporting our grantee partners. 🔴 The first pour in the coffee brewing process, referred to as the “bloom” is critical because it activates the coffee grounds and prepares it for subsequent pours. This is much like our work in incubating early stage ideas and non-profits. If we get this done well, it allows us and others to create a more robust outcome. Adopting a futures lens, we also had insightful discussions on key emerging trends in philanthropy, the social sector in Singapore, and how we can respond to these trends. These include the emergence of Singapore as a philanthropic hub, and the increasing blurring of lines between nonprofits and for-profits. Read more about our Leadership Council Members here: https://lnkd.in/dmMwGpkC Thank you Pamela Chng and the Bettr team for hosting us at your lovely new space. We’re also excited to welcome them as a resident at #Foundry, our upcoming home base for collective impact. Stay tuned for more news! #socialimpact #majuritysg #coffee #Foundry #philanthropy
