Did you know? Sexual abuse and gross neglect of children and youthhas been on the uptick in  Singapore. There has been an almost 300% INCREASE over the past 8 years, with more than 2,000 tier-2 abuse cases in 2023! We're honored to join forces with Mustard Seed Foundation to support vulnerable girls on their journey to healing and empowerment. Through this campaign, funds will be disbursed to Impart, HCSA Community Services and Singapore Children's Society to protect, uplift, and equip young girls to thrive. Impart has always been about making good help accessible. Not just available, but accessible also. Shermaine A. reports on how we are making good help accessible for socially reclusive youths in her latest Straits Times feature. Everyone in our sector knows that severe social reclusion is one of the most challenging phenomenon in recent years. Impart doesn't have all the answers, but we’ve been on the ground enough with these youths to know their stories. And while their stories are varied, they share a common theme: Good help isn’t reaching them where they are at. That’s why the Mental Health Care team led by Raksha Kartik is attempting this pilot. We meet them where they are at in an interactive virtual world. We couple it with incremental in-person activities. We equip them with (super) skills from Dr. Cecilia Essau SSL intervention. We journey with them through their experiences of anxiety and adversities. And we trust that they will come out of the process accompanied in our community of care. It must also be mentioned that this effort has been spearheaded by Mandy Yang, Brenda Tan, and Tan Yang Hong, who have been roping in volunteers and former Impart youths alike to make this virtual world a reality. We're excited to see their efforts bear fruit, and we hope you cheer them on with us as well. Here’s to the next chapter of helping young people step out of their virtual worlds and into their future, stronger than ever. If you're interested in collaborating or supporting this mission of giving youths a fighting chance, we’d love to connect. https://lnkd.in/geQjz84Y

Did you know that 10 October is World Mental Health Day? This year’s theme is “It is Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace”. Some of us might have just started working and this transition from schooling to working can be quite a challenging one. Everything is so new and different from what we were used to in school and adjusting to working full-time can be quite the struggle. While it is normal to feel a little overwhelmed and intimidated during this initial phase, it is important for us to pay attention to our feelings and not neglect our mental health. Work can affect mental health, and mental health can also affect us at work. Stress may be an inevitable feeling for us we just start working. Hence, it is important to find ways to help us cope with the stress, whether by exercising, watching our favourite TV shows or hanging out with friends. When we are mindful in taking steps to care for our mental health, the better we can show up not only at work but other aspects of our life too.

14 years old and building a website from scratch? Meet Aarav, the brains behind Mind Mirths, a platform dedicated to providing accessible therapy services to all. At such a young age, Aarav chose to tackle something incredibly meaningful—mental health awareness. After winning Mindful Hacks 2023, this self-taught coder didn’t stop. He kept pushing, reaching out to clinics and refining his website to help make affordable healthcare a reality. He’s currently leading this project under The Impart Accelerator Programme which aims to enhance efforts in catalyzing youth-led initiatives, focused on mental wellness and awareness projects. Our target group consists of youth-led project teams dedicated to piloting solutions that address the mental health challenges faced by youths aged 10 to 16 in Singapore. The youth groups are supported in funding, design facilitation and consultancy support to equip them with the context and competencies necessary to engage in deeper, systems-level work. We're so proud of Aarav’s drive to make a difference! Stay tuned for more interesting and inspiring stories! #impactwithimpart #community #coding #mentalhealth #inspiration

Small Actions, Big Impact! On 6/7/2024, 34 youth participants took a stand against pollution at Pasir Ris Beach. In just one day, they collected a whopping 600kg of litter! We’re thrilled to announce another round of graduations at Project Apex! Following the success of our Apex Graduation in Ghim Moh, we’re excited to continue this journey with the youths from Project Apex in Jurong! Project Apex is designed to empower a community of peer supporters, volunteers, and professionals to support youths-facing-adversity in developing resilience, mental health skills, and core values through a Learning Journey Intervention. Our 12-week program includes engaging Sepak Takraw training sessions and group therapy where our youths gained valuable insights into their potential futures! It helps our youths build teamwork, physical skills and fitness, academic motivation and a strong sense of belonging. Family and friends gathered to celebrate the Apex Graduation, where our youths shared their experiences and reflected on their growth. We are immensely proud of their progress and excited to see them continue to thrive and make a positive impact in the world. #impactwithimpart #youthdevelopment #volunteerism #sepaktakraw
