  • A Great Exchange of Ideas and Insights!   We were delighted to welcome Ms. Josephine Wong, Assistant Curator (Education & Extension) of the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, who visited us recently to learn more about our museum’s marketing strategies, programmes, and curatorial practices. It was an inspiring opportunity to share our approaches and discuss potential future collaborations. We look forward to visiting the Hong Kong Heritage Museum soon and exploring exciting ways we can work together to further enrich the cultural landscape. Here’s to building meaningful partnerships in the museum and heritage sector!

  • We had the pleasure of hosting the Start Small Dream Big Partner Tea Session for 2025 at Lewin Terrace. During the event, we shared our experiences working with selected preschool centres on projects related to our special exhibition, Into The Hawkerverse. Partners also enjoyed a tour of our museum, gaining insights into our immersive and engaging exhibitions. It was a fulfilling day of networking with like-minded individuals dedicated to making a positive impact on children and our community!

  • Our Museum Director, Asmah Alias is at the ICOM CECA International Committee for Education and Cultural Action Annual Conference on-going at Athens, Greece from 18 to 22 November 2024. She had the privilege to conceptualise and co-lead a workshop with Mohd Fared Jainal, a renowned theatre practitioner and educator from School of the Arts Singapore, and Alnizah Shamsudeen, Deputy Director from Bank Negara Malaysia Museum & Art Gallery. The 2-hour workshop shared how participants can use thinking routines from Harvard Project Zero and devised theatre tools, to address sensitive topics at museums. Almost 30 museum practitioners from various countries participated in the workshop. The session went well with great responses, exchange of ideas and even invitations for collaboration of future workshops in other parts of the world! We look forward to more exchanges and collaboration opportunities with museum professionals around the world! #ICOMCECA2024

  • Did you know that Children’s Season (CS), a festival to encourage museum-going culture among our local community, especially young families, is now helmed by Children’s Museum Singapore? This festival brings together many Museum Roundtable (MR) members, and sees different museums coming up with creative, fun and engaging programmes and workshops over the June School holidays. In preparation for CS 2025, we held our first MR members engagement session. The session allowed us to share more in-depth about next year's festival plans and to hear from our MR members what they hope to see, as well as how they can contribute to future editions of CS. Our partner, Playeum, also shared on the focus group discussion with the Children's Circle which gave valuable insights to our members the ideas and thoughts of the children for next year's festival theme. Looking forward to Children's Season 2025! Find out more about Museum Roundtable here: https://lnkd.in/gD5wNdPd

  • We had the privilege to welcome HomeTeamNS into our space for a tour of our museum. The HomeTeamNS team shared with us tips on how they managed their child-friendly spaces such as indoor playground, indoor water adventure park and enrichment centres. It was a great industry knowledge exchange session and we look forward to meeting more like-minded industry partners, to draw inspiration and insights on good-practices and ideas!

  • We met with Mr Abhik Bhattacherji from the Museum of Solutions (MuSo) of Mumbai, India when he was in Singapore. MuSo recently won the prestigious 2024 Hands On! Children in Museums Award and we’d like to congratulate Mr Abhik and his team on this achievement! During his visit, we got to learn a bit more about MuSo, an experiential and interactive children's museum in India with 6 floors of exhibits, programmes, and activities for children 2 years and above. We took him on a tour of our museum and shared with him about our museum’s vision and mission. We hope to visit MuSo soon to meet and learn more from the team. Together, we can do so much as a community to spark wonder and promote the power of play for children in a safe environment.

  • Back in September, National Institute of Early Childhood Development, Singapore (NIEC) held their NIEC Alumni Homecoming event. We were invited to their City Campus to be part of their event and conducted a sharing session with existing NIEC Chinese Students and Alumni about Children’s Museum Singapore. But nothing beats seeing our museum space itself! To wrap up the session, we invited the attendees to our museum for a learning journey and explore the galleries. The session provided the teachers valuable insights into planning more meaningful and engaging field trips for young children. We hope to collaborate with more like minded individuals and organisations to advocate #LearningThroughPlay.

  • We had the opportunity to be part of STEAMunity as a community partner! STEAMunity is organised by Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), in partnership with Science Centre Singapore, and supported by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the National Research Foundation (NRF). Students are trained to use STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) and DAI (Design and Artificial Intelligence) to solve real world problems. For Children’s Museum Singapore, we challenged the students to propose ideas to make our museum a welcoming space for children with low vision. It was lovely to see the youths’ ideas and application of design thinking, providing solutions to the problem statements given by the various community partners.
