Make a Difference Without Spending a Cent 🪙 When people think of giving, it’s often in terms of money. But at Ray of Hope, we see giving as something much broader. It’s about bringing people together, building connections, and supporting those in need in ways that go beyond financial contributions. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸: 🎂 Celebrate Your Birthday with Purpose: Create a birthday campaign with Ray of Hope! Instead of gifts, ask friends and family to raise funds to support one of our clients, contribute to a giving circle, or help us build a stronger community. 👓 Support Special Causes: For many families, the cost of essentials like glasses can be overwhelming. Recently, a local spectacles shop owner sponsored glasses for 15 people from six low-income families. 🎉 Bring Joy to Children in Need: A group of volunteers recently organised a Toy Story-themed tea party for children with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). This Christmas, we’re calling on local businesses to join us. From sponsoring services to offering in-kind donations, there are countless ways to get involved. 👉 Have a creative idea for giving back? We’d love to hear it! Reach out to Noor Hana or Elisha Vishinpir and we’d love to make your idea a reality.

Building a more inclusive community, one connection at a time. This year, we’ve taken new and meaningful steps toward creating a community where everyone belongs. In our Building Community Champions (BCC) program, we’ve partnered with many to host 7 vibrant BCC events in 2024. Until recently, students led the planning of each event, but this year, something special happened — our migrant brothers joined the organising committee. With students and migrant brothers working side-by-side, each event now reflects a wider range of perspectives and voices. Every moment—from tossing a frisbee to unwinding in a yoga pose—has helped build bridges, spark conversations, and deepen understanding between different parts of our community. These events remind us that Ray of Hope is about making real connections and creating a Singapore where everyone feels they belong. But to keep creating these meaningful experiences, we need your support. By giving just $10 a month, you can help keep BCC going. Your monthly donation fuels more of these moments, helping us build a community where everyone can give, receive, and grow together. 💙 Support BCC here: https://lnkd.in/gdS5gBHa Thank you to our lovely partners & co-organisers for making BCC possible: Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), St Joseph's Institution (SJI), Scape Singapore, St Patrick's School, Joshua Tay Adrian Lim Sarabjeet Singh Ethen Ong Yongsen Tan Ting Yu Windy Wu Felyn Chua Samara Perumal

The end of the year is a time of reflection and generosity —a time to ask, “How can we make a difference?” At Ray of Hope, we believe in turning generosity into tangible action by connecting people to those in need through crowdfunding. This year, your organisation can take an active role in creating change by directing staff year-end giving to Ray of Hope. Every donation made through our platform goes 100% directly to clients, supporting verified causes such as providing children with access to education, helping seniors manage medical costs, and assisting multi-stressed families to regain stability. Beyond the financial support, it’s an opportunity to create a shared sense of purpose and to end the year with a spirit of giving. Make a donation at www.rayofhope.sg or simply add this link to your company’s year-end collaterals. Let’s make this season one of unity, generosity, and impact 🎁🎄

At the heart of amplifying impact 💙 Skilled volunteers are one of the most powerful resources for building a stronger, more inclusive community. They bring expertise, passion, and fresh perspectives that enable us to expand our reach and deepen our impact—essential qualities for any charity working to create lasting change. One of our dedicated volunteers, Chendooran Pathmanathan MCIPS, embodies this commitment. Chen used his background to support our recent Let’s Take A Walk 2024 (LTAW) event in collaboration with Raleigh Singapore. Tasked with engaging companies to join the event, Chen’s efforts helped bring over 16 organisations on board, a crucial step in amplifying the event’s reach and impact. Chen reflects, "Volunteering allowed me to meet people who, like me, care about making a difference. Each partnership felt like a positive step for everyone involved." Skilled volunteers like Chen enable us to do more than we could alone—they help us move closer to a community where everyone can give and receive support. To Chen, our volunteers and partners — thank you for being such an integral part of our mission. Together, we’re building a community where every contribution counts. Let's Take A Walk 2024 was more than a walk—it's a reminder of what we can accomplish when we come together with a shared purpose. Thanks to Raleigh Singapore and over 2,200 walkers who showed up with such incredible spirit, we raised over $200,000 to support individuals who need a lifeline to rebuild their lives. At Ray Of Hope, we envision a community where everyone has a chance to give and receive support, and where those who may have slipped through the cracks are given the dignity to rise again. Every step taken was a step toward that vision—a community that lifts each other up and makes sure no one is left behind. To Raleigh Singapore, the walkers, partners, and sponsors, thank you for your kindness and for believing in a community where everyone matters. Let's keep walking! At Ray of Hope, we understand the unique challenges faced by children with learning disabilities, especially those from low-income families. This is why we’re launching The Lai Yu Hua Kindness Youth Lit Fund, seeded by the generosity of Laurence Putra Franslay and in collaboration with our first partner, 3Pumpkins’ Tak Takut Kids Club (TTKC), to provide crucial support to children in Boon Lay. Research shows that children from low-income families are twice as likely to face learning challenges like dyslexia and ADHD, often due to limited access to early diagnosis and intervention. Sadly, many are diagnosed later, after years of struggling in school. While schools offer some support, it’s often not enough, leaving children lagging behind their peers. The Lai Yu Hua Kindness Youth Lit Fund will fill these gaps by providing personalised therapies like speech, occupational, and behavioural, tailored to each child’s specific needs. This initiative is made possible by Singapore’s Voices of Loving Kindness (VoLK), including Dr Geraldine Tan, Dr Alicia Altorfer-Ong, Ph.D., and Laurence, all working to empower children to overcome their challenges, build confidence, and thrive in school. As the fund administrator, Ray of Hope’s role is to connect the right resources with the children who need them most. We’re also grateful to our partner clinics, Leapfrogs Therapy Centre and The Therapy Room, who have joined us in this mission, making therapy accessible and impactful for each child. 🎂 Turn Your Birthday Into a Celebration of Hope 🎂 Your birthday is a beautiful moment to celebrate life’s blessings. This year, why not make it even more meaningful by sharing the joy with those in need? At Ray of Hope, we believe in the power of community, and with 100% of donations going directly to the people we support, your impact can be truly life-changing. By starting your own birthday campaign, you can invite your loved ones to contribute in a way that makes a real difference. Instead of gifts, ask your friends and family to donate and help us continue our mission of empowering lives. Every dollar raised goes toward creating lasting change. How it works: 1. Create your birthday campaign 2. Share it with your friends & loved ones 3. Celebrate knowing you’ve spread joy and hope By starting your own birthday campaign, you’ll be making an impact that lasts far beyond your special day. If you’d like to find out more, reach out to Alicia! Thank you for being a part of Ray of Hope—your generosity is a gift that keeps giving.

At Ray of Hope, our mission thrives because of the incredible people who give their time, effort, and kindness. We often hear, 'I don't think I have anything to give.' But the truth is, everyone has something to offer. If you’re wondering how you can contribute, just know that sometimes, simply showing up is the most powerful gift of all. Thank you to all our volunteers — past, present, and future. Our community wouldn’t be the same without you. You’ve shown that generosity isn’t defined by limits, and community isn’t built by chance — it’s built by people like you. In Ray Of Hope, the word “giving” makes you stop and think. Volunteering, giving, community building sounds straightforward enough until you experience their version. When Alicia asked if my team and I wanted to join in the Iftar Project 4 years ago, I mindlessly said yes. 4 years on, the learnings have been aplenty. 1. That giving is embracing oneself. In order for us to be there, we needed to be honest with our vulnerability and limitations. 2. Giving is also receiving. You cannot give in this project without also receiving warmth and love from the family. 3. Kindness is not a transaction. It is certainly not “I give, you just take.” It is constant flow from you to me and me to you to ensure the giving is sustainable. Though I knew cognitively that a gift is only good if it is received, the experience these 4 years imprinted deeply the meaning of giving. Thank you Mr Yusoff, Mdm Noraini and the young ones, for giving and receiving and for allowing my team and I to do the same. Thank you Ray of Hope for facilitating this and so much more! The work you are doing for the communities is phenomenal! Nicola Choo and Adrian Chong led a fantastic team retreat for us, focusing on how we can collaborate more effectively and serve our community with greater efficiency. During the retreat, we recognised that a strong organisational culture fosters adaptability and resilience, enabling us to navigate challenges and respond to changing circumstances. By understanding our different working styles and strengths, we can create an environment that promotes continuous improvement and helps us grow in our mission. Thank you, Adrian and Nicola, for your valuable insights and for being such an integral part of our journey!

Earlier this month, my colleague, Nicola Choo and I had the incredible opportunity to lead a team retreat for Ray of Hope (ROH) - https://rayofhope.sg. You can't help but be inspired when you work with a group of people that spend all their talent and their time helping others. We focused on what excites the team, how to enhance collaboration, and how to nurture a unique ROH culture. ROH is a remarkable crowdfunding platform that supports those who often slip through the cracks of our social support system, all under the visionary and compassionate leadership of Tan En and Alicia Altorfer-Ong, Ph.D.. Go check out ROH! They do meaningful and powerful work that touch lives. My takeaway: It was during the casual conversations that I got to know the real stories of their beneficiaries and I could see their eyes lit up when they told their stories. I didn't need an assessment tool to tell me what got them excited. They were full of empathy for their beneficiaries, and they love making an impact. It is in these moments of giving and #connection that we truly touch the essence of our #humanity. Thank you, ROH, for allowing us to be a part of your journey! ============= I am Adrian Chong and I lead Erevna Leadership Asia, a boutique leadership development consultancy representing world class solutions. Delicious aromas, laughter, and the sizzle of pans filled the air as Ray of Hope recently hosted a special MasterChef session at SATS Experiential Centre at The Arts House. Five Ray of Hope families joined forces with our amazing partners from Provident Capital Partners for an unforgettable culinary adventure. The kitchen buzzed with energy as teams mixed, chopped, and sautéed their way to success. MasterChef Ilya guided participants through cooking preparation and assembly, preparing popiah, begedil, and the tasty components of soto ayam, with fun-filled challenges. This event served a deeper purpose beyond food preparation. It broke down barriers, with participants from different backgrounds coming together. It was also empowering to see some of The Provident team members with cooking expertise taking the lead in guiding their teams. The families and volunteers interacted and collaborated, laying the groundwork for future connections. We aim to create a Singapore where everyone, regardless of financial circumstances, can fully participate in community gatherings. Through our crowdfunding efforts, volunteer opportunities, and partnerships with organisations like Provident and SATS Experiential Centre at The Arts House, we're working towards a more inclusive society. We appreciate everyone who participated and contributed to making this tasty event possible. Too many cooks don't spoil the broth. If you're looking for a long-term partner to curate meaningful activities together, reach out to our partnership manager, Noor Hana.
