Meet Hilary Goh, our senior forensic scientist, who knows a thing or two about taking unconventional routes. After all, she decided to pursue biomedical science at Singapore Polytechnic even though her parents were worried that this would make it more difficult for her to qualify for a local university. She would later go on to secure her spot at the National University of Singapore upon graduation, but her time at Singapore Polytechnic ignited within her a passion for forensics—a field where she could use science to solve crimes and provide much-needed closure to victims' families. Upon joining HTX, Hilary worked on projects to do just that. For instance, Project SNPshot could allow 3D faces to be printed from DNA which would benefit disaster victim recovery. What makes Project SNPshot even more valuable is that such facial prediction studies have never been conducted on Southeast Asian populations before. Now, she is plunging into research on associative evidence, working to link victims and suspects to crime scenes. 👉 Read more about Hilary’s story here: https://lnkd.in/gwwgfyMZ #HTXsg #HTXpioneers #Forensics

How can you tell if someone is sus? Maybe they are fidgeting a bit too much or have shifty eyes. But now imagine that you are an officer at Singapore’s borders and must sieve through thousands of people to find potentially suspicious individuals. That is why HTX’s Biometrics and Profiling Centre of Expertise is harnessing AI-powered technology to help our frontline officers quickly and easily identify suspicious individuals. From detecting micro expressions to conducting skin temperature analysis, AIs use these “invisible” signs to identify possible offenders. 🔗 Find out how AI has become the new frontier of deception detection here: https://lnkd.in/gCYzuxrx #HTXsg #HTScienceandTech #STEM

GLUE, GOAT, NGL, ROUGE, and SMH—can you tell which of these acronyms are evaluation metrics for Large Language Models (LLMs) and which are Gen Z slang? From training HTX’s LLMs to understanding global practices on AI governance, our recent Responsible AI Day, organised by HTxAI Enterprise Group, highlighted the importance of integrating privacy, security, and governance to establish and operationalise robust responsible AI policies and practices. We were joined by Resaro, an independent third-party AI test lab, who shared global practices on AI Governance across jurisdictions and law enforcement agencies. Their presentation also touched on how AI systems can be tested to enhance performance and build user confidence. The event drew an engaged audience of about 200 participants attending both in-person and virtually. It concluded with a lively Q&A session. Think deception can be hidden? Think again. HTX’s Biometrics & Profiling Centre of Expertise is developing an AI-powered tool to spot micro-facial expressions (MFEs)—brief, involuntary movements tied to emotions—making it harder to mask true feelings during interviews. Unlike polygraphs, it’s contactless, needs no operator training, and enhances investigative insights. 👉🏻 https://lnkd.in/gZhKSG88 #HTXsg #HTxAI #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #Innovation
