We were in Sweden this week, meeting with one of our owners Sida, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency and several other key stakeholders. Building on our long-term collaboration with Sida, the team delivered sessions and workshops on PIDG's solutions and key areas of cooperation, including on guarantees and development impact.

🍊🍊Snapshot from a fun moment when we celebrated the Lunar New Year in #PIDG Singapore! We participated in the festive tradition of "lo hei" (捞起) - also known as "prosperity toss." This beloved custom involves gathering around a colorful salad called "yu sheng" while collectively tossing the ingredients high into the air with chopsticks. ✨ Exciting news from #Pakistan! The Private Infrastructure Development Group has co-invested in a US$141.9m sustainable aviation fuel facility through our debt solution, Emerging Africa & Asia Infrastructure Fund. 🌿 This first-of-a-kind facility, developed by Safco Ventures, will convert locally-sourced feedstock, such as used cooking oil, into clean aviation fuel, while supporting income increases for Pakistan’s small businesses, hotels and restaurants which provide the feedstock. 🤝 The total debt financing of USD 86.2 million comprises a $41.2m senior secured loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), $40m of syndicated senior secured B-loans from #EAAIF and the ILX Fund ($20m each), and a $5m syndicated parallel loan from the IFC - International Finance Corporation. As mentioned during my recent trip to Nepal few days ago, the ambitious plan of 28.5 GW purely with Hydro seems a long shot & not easy to achieve as equally articulated by you. Additional investments in Transmission & Distribution too needs to be expedited to increase domestic consumption to meet the aspirations of Nepal’s population ! Depending purely on Hydro is also a challenge & hence Nepal must expedite policies & tariff determination on Solar + BESS for which investments proposals are already being made ! Nepal has to become self sufficient in its electricity sector and for that the energy mix must promote BESS too as an option given its over reliance on Hydro ! Our Impact team's visit to India in January included a meeting with Everest Fleet Pvt. Ltd. in Mumbai to see progress made by the team in expanding their electric vehicle inventory for ride-hailing platforms. GuarantCo provided a guarantee for a loan from Axis Bank in January 2024 to fund this project, under a Framework Agreement to increase e-mobility and reduce emissions in India. Electric vehicles currently account for less than 1 per cent of total vehicle sales in the market. During their visit, the GuarantCo team were impressed by Everest’s commitment to Health Safety Environmental and Social concerns. It was apparent they had gone beyond requirements in developing an ESG roadmap, outlining their ESG objectives in pursuit of continuous improvement. Speaking at the recent inauguration of East Africa Marine Transport's M.V. Mpungu, Her Excellency, Lisa Chesney MBE, British High Commissioner to Uganda said: "The launch of MV Mpungu marks a transformative moment for Uganda’s maritime industry and regional trade within the East African Community. This vessel is more than just an infrastructure project—it’s a game-changer for businesses, offering a reliable, efficient, and cost-effective transport solution that will drive economic growth and integration across borders. I’m especially proud of the UK government’s role in funding this strategic initiative through InfraCo and the PIDG group of companies, alongside the Netherlands and Switzerland. Over the 21 months of close collaboration, InfraCo and its partners have prioritized skilling Ugandan labour, ensuring that local talent plays a pivotal role in this achievement. With over 140 jobs created, this project is not only building a vessel but also empowering Uganda’s workforce and strengthening its maritime future.” The Private Infrastructure Development Group was delighted to welcome Her Excellency to the event, and appreciates the ongoing support of Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken and SECO Economic Cooperation and Development for InfraCo's wider work.

Earlier today in her speech at the London Stock Exchange, the Minister of State for Development, Anneliese Dodds (Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office), welcomed a first-of-its-kind report from UK institutional investors, co-led by Mercer, Aviva Investors and PIDG, on scaling private capital for climate action in emerging markets, and announced a new taskforce to take its recommendations forward.
