Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, and for some, these moments may unfold in public. If you witness someone—especially a person with special needs—struggling, take a moment to pause, assess the situation, and extend grace to them and their family. Sharing such moments online can feel intrusive and may cause more harm than good. Instead, let’s show what it means to be a compassionate community by offering a kind word, a warm gesture, or simply showing patience. By working together, we can create shared spaces that are safer, more supportive, and inclusive for everyone. #sgminds #specialneeds #intellectualdisability

Studies have shown that reading brings many health benefits 🔖 Vishnu, a volunteer at the Me Too! Club, has been writing digital stories for the Reading Programme, which aims to instill a reading culture and expand their vocabulary of our members. Driven by the belief that stories have the power to connect and educate, he has written three books – The Rookie Astronaut, The Rookie Skydriver, and The Zoo Story. Currently, he is collaborating with a classmate on a new book for the next reading session. He plans to start a club at his school to continue creating digital stories for the Me Too! Club members. What’s one problem you wish you could fix with technology? 🤔 At the Digital for Life Festival, ‘Our Lives, Our Voices’ (OLOV) self-advocate Allan demonstrated the efficacy of Google's projects to President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Minister Josephine Teo. The festival showcased a wide array of technologies being used to empower vulnerable groups like Persons with Intellectual Disability (PWIDs). MINDS is proud to champion inclusion and diversity with our long-time partner, Google, through the use of smart technology. #sgminds #specialneeds #intellectualdisability

Which sport is your favourite? 🏐 Our trainees from MINDS Regional Hub (Hougang), formerly known as IDEA Employment Development Centre (IEDC), participated in various games at this year’s Play Inclusive 2024. Play Inclusive is Singapore’s largest inclusive sporting competition, where people with and without disabilities come together to build friendships through shared experiences. Our trainees brought home trophies for three different sports: 🥇 1st Place in Badminton 🥇 1st Place in Basketball 🥉 3rd Place in Football Many congratulations to them for their efforts! We would like to extend our gratitude to our Training Officers Wendy, Efendee, Clifford, Lawrence, Christopher, Hidayu, and our volunteers for helping our trainees win! 🌟 #sgminds #specialneeds #intellectualdisability

Clementi Training & Development Centre (CTDC) went through a mini transformation! Volunteers from Fight G Gym came down to help us paint the West Wing in a bright, warm shade of green. The Centre plans to revitalise the West Wing to provide clients with a dedicated space to develop home living and work readiness skills. A mock café and drop-in centre are in the works to teach clients basic food-making and money-management skills. Thank you for your hard work, Fight G Gym! Volunteer with us and empower PWIDs through your support: minds.org.sg/volunteer/ #sgminds #specialneeds #intellectualdisability

Being a valedictorian is not something just anyone can do! MINDS Schools recently had a graduation ceremony and celebrated Haikal, the Valedictorian of Class 2024. He did not expect to be valedictorian and expresses his thanks to his family, teachers, friends, and school staff for their support in his educational journey with the schools. We're incredibly proud of your achievements, Haikal, and excited to see you continue to shine! ⭐ #sgminds #specialneeds #intellectualdisability

Another event, another exciting experience! 🥳 This year’s Walkathon & Fair, an annual event organised by @Children’s Charities’ Association to raise donations and support vulnerable children, was held at Ngee Ann City. MINDSVille represented MINDS during the walkathon and it was a blast! We had Woodlands Gardens School put on a performance on stage and our MINDS Craft booth won the Best Decorated Stall Award during the fair. Missed the event but want to give your support? You can still help to make a difference: https://lnkd.in/gmfnZRZ4 #sgminds #specialneeds #intellectualdisability

We know how challenging the job market can be 😅 Recently, we hosted a Reverse Job Fair—an innovative initiative connecting employers directly with job seekers who have intellectual disabilities. Our goal is to empower Persons with Intellectual Disability (PWIDs) to achieve financial independence and self-reliance. The fair provided employers with valuable connections to PWIDs, support networks, and resources to build confidence in inclusive hiring practices. Join us as an inclusive employer and connect with MINDS Hi-Job! Job Placement Job Support (JPJS) team via email: team@hijob.org.sg #sgminds #specialneeds #intellectualdisability

One of the things that drive humans is learning 📚 MINDS Hub @ Bukit Batok recently hosted an Open House that brought together caregivers, volunteers, and residents from the Bukit Batok neighbourhood for an evening of engaging activities and community connection. Visitors learned about our hub's mission to empower Persons with Intellectual Disability (PWIDs) through various programs and initiatives. This aligns with our core value of promoting social inclusivity as we work towards a more inclusive Singapore. Together, through understanding and embracing diversity, we're building a community where everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute meaningfully. #sgminds #specialneeds #intellectualdisability
