Last year, at a Cartier x Tatler Asia event in Singapore, I met Mint Lim, the founder of the School of Concepts. She shared her entrepreneurial journey and her mission: "No child left behind." She believes there are no wrong kids, just the wrong ways of teaching and learning. Mint's story deeply resonated with me. Reflecting on my own school days, I remembered being a special kid. I didn’t enjoy sitting in a classroom; I preferred discovering and challenging new things. My grades in Chinese and Mathematics had a huge gap, and I wasn’t the teacher’s favorite student, but I was very active in other school activities. Despite these experiences, I labeled myself a bad student because I didn’t fit the ‘good student’ standard. Fortunately, I had very encouraging parents, but not every child is so lucky. Mint's perspective reaffirmed my belief that children should enjoy learning in ways that suit them, not be forced into a single mold. After living and studying in Japan for 13 years, I noticed an issue with the education system here. My goddaughter and the children of my close friends are taught to be the same – sit the same, eat the same, follow the same rules. But we should teach children to be different, to preserve their unique nature, and to be themselves. This realization led us to bring the School of Concept to Japan. If we can help just one more child enjoy their studies, we create a ripple effect – one more happy person enjoying life, one more happy family fostering a love for learning. Less suffering, more joy. With Teruyuki Omote san's strong support, our first proof of concept with　Lumine Mall received overwhelmingly positive feedback from both parents and children. When parents saw their ‘naughty’ kids enjoying stories, paying attention to hands-on activities, and communicating with other children, they felt a sense of relief.
