This event was designed to improve English skills and build cross-cultural understanding. The programme, organised by Dr. Raja Rangaswamy from the Diploma in Biomedical Engineering (BME) and supported by the BME students’ club, BIOENGENES, included interactive communication exercises, surveys comparing the preferences of Japanese and Singaporean students, and individual presentations. 🧡 The programme was well received. Hakodate Kosen student Ryo said, “I enjoyed today’s class, because I communicated with many people”, Yuno, also from Hakodate, said “I liked the fun atmosphere”, and Minika from Hachinohe Kosen concluded, “I enjoyed the class because I could communicate with Singaporean students and learn more about them.” It was a fantastic day of learning and forging connections, with students gaining insights into each other's cultures while practising their English skills. Special thanks to Professors Osamu Terakado, Hiroki Kiyokawa, and HSS/CLS lecturers Pauline Lau and Ann Tay for facilitating this enriching course. We are grateful to ENG for inviting HSS/CLS to enhance their exchange programmes and look forward to more such collaborations. 🤝🌟 Sending a BIG THANKS to our dedicated team - Paul Davidson, Pauline Lau, Ann Tay, and all involved—for making this a memorable and successful event! 🌟 #TemasekPolytechnic #TPHSS #HSS #TPcreatingTomorrow #TPENG #CrossCulturalExchange #EnglishTraining #EducationalCollaboration #Singapore #Japan #CorporateEngagement #Training

🎉 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵! 🌏✨ Our NIEC (TP) Diploma in Early Childhood Development & Education (ECDE) students brought energy and creativity to the Malay Language Month Celebration at Our Tampines Hub on Sunday, 22 September 2024. Guided by NIEC (TP) lecturer Ms. Jihan, 19 enthusiastic students from the Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP) and ECDE (Year 1 to Year 3) took the lead in managing four vibrant activity booths that celebrated the richness of Malay culture and language. From traditional Malay games like "Congkak", "Five Stones", and "Chapteh", to hands-on activities such as "Tanjak" (headgear) making, Batik painting, basket weaving, and Malay language games, the event was buzzing with excitement. Around 200 residents joined in, experiencing the joy of learning and connecting with Malay heritage in a fun, interactive way. Adding to the cultural depth, our students also curated four fascinating panel write-ups, diving into the history and significance of these cultural traditions. This celebration wasn’t just about having fun—it was about building connections, fostering racial harmony, and deepening cultural appreciation. Our students went above and beyond with their teamwork, creativity, and enthusiasm, ensuring every resident walked away with a meaningful experience. A big thank you to our amazing students for your hard work and passion—you truly made us proud! Together, we celebrate and strengthen the vibrant tapestry of Singapore’s multicultural identity. 💙🧡 #temasekpoly #tpcreatingtomorrow #temasekpolyhss #OneHSSFam #TPHSS #NIECTP #TPECDE #TPPFP #Community #MalayLanguageMonth

✈️🌍 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗛𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗹: 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲𝘀, 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 🧡✨ Imagine 26 students, backpacks full of ambition, heading to Kathmandu, Nepal, on a mission to make a difference! Our first-ever Overseas Community Project with YMCA of Singapore was all about creating impact, fostering cultural connections, and embracing personal growth. 🌟🔨🌿 Led by Sheena K Singh, Allen Roche, and dedicated HSS Youth Expedition Project (YEP) Leaders Matthew Tan, Li Ying Lew, Tiffany Tee and Zakiah Janelle Abdulai, this transformative journey from 16 to 27 September 2024 was all about making a meaningful difference while fostering cultural exchange and personal growth. 🌟🔨🌿 Our students rolled up their sleeves and gave their all in service-learning activities: • 🛠️ Plastering work for the extension of Shree Sansari Primary School. • 📚 Conducting Conversational English, STEM-based lessons, and public speaking workshops at local schools. • 🎉 Organising a vibrant sports carnival at a children’s home. Participants also embarked on eye-opening learning journeys: • 💇♀️ Visiting bPretty Salon, a social enterprise empowering trafficked women. • 🏔️ Trekking at the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development, where they gained insights into Nepal’s environmental challenges. For many, the Campfire Night at Bakunde Besi was the heart of the trip. As Joshua Nayar, a Year 1 Diploma in Psychology Studies student, reflected: “The atmosphere was so lively. Everyone basked in vibrant music, and it was heartwarming to see the joy in every interaction. This is an experience I’ll cherish forever.” 🔥 This journey wasn’t just about giving back—it was about learning to adapt, thrive, and grow. As Farahdiyana Binte Suhaimi, a Year 2 Diploma in Social Sciences in Gerontology student, shared: “This trip honed my skills, pushed me out of my comfort zone, and taught me to thrive in uncertainty. It proved that even amidst challenges, meaningful relationships can flourish.” 💪 Project Hope Nepal left an indelible mark—not just on the communities we served but on every participant. It deepened their understanding of privilege, expanded their global perspectives, and equipped them with invaluable life lessons for an ever-changing world. 🌏 💡 Together, we’ve shown how service, learning, and cultural exchange can create ripple effects of positive change. Let’s keep building bridges across cultures and making a difference! 🧡 #temasekpolytechnic #TPcreatingTomorrow #TPHSS #oneHSSfam #projecthopeTP #communityservice #experientiallearning #globalcitizenship #learningwithheart #buildingbridges

𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘭 𝘌𝘹𝘩𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 presented by Singapore Art Museum (SAM). 🎉 Kicking off the Collaboration! Samuel Liu, one of our VA students, had the honour of explaining the NIEC (TP) VA track's involvement to Ms. Teoh Zsin Woon, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Community, and Youth (MCCY), the Guest of Honour. 🌟 In response to the theme of environmental sustainability, our students designed and facilitated two unique art activities: 🔹 Save Our Ocean: Children collected recyclable materials, creating 3D art inspired by the exhibition’s artworks. 🔹 Junk Necklace: Children transformed cardboard and bottle caps into creative jewelry, sparking discussions about recycling and environmental responsibility. Over three weekends, these sessions attracted around 790 participants, including parents and children. Feedback highlighted our students' proactive and patient approach, with parents appreciating the meaningful, hands-on introduction to sustainability. SAM’s Learning Team commended our students for their adaptability, openness to feedback, and skill in using age-appropriate language to make the experience engaging for young visitors. This partnership between NIEC (TP) and SAM offered our students a transformative experience—an opportunity to apply their teaching skills, tackle logistical challenges, and connect with families through the power of art. 👏💡 Kudos to our amazing VA track students and a big thank you to SAM for this meaningful collaboration! 💙🧡 #NIECTP #temasekpoly #tpcreatingtomorrow #temasekpolyhss #OneHSSFam #TPHSS #TPECDE #ArtDay #Community #FamilyBonding #SingaporeArtMuseum
