A new Carbon Manifesto was announced at the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) 2024 International Conference in London. The CTBUH is renewing the commitment to Sustainability and vows to “Crack the Embodied Carbon Code” for Tall Buildings to help solve the growing density dilemma without harming the planet.  Join the CTBUH SEA to continue the conversation in Singapore on Thursday, on October 24th for “The Carbon Paradigm – Design, Build, Operate”, where we will delve into innovative approaches and best practices for reducing embodied and operational carbon in buildings. Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) 2024 London – Paris….What an amazing week! So energized by all the great technical talks and networking…that I am virtually jet-lag proof (almost).  For those of you who attended hope you have had a chance to check-out the new CTBUH Journal launch “VERTICAL URBANISM the magazine of the CTBUH”. While I have been involved in some of the strategic discussions on content and direction, its the first time I’ve seen it in all its glory.  And I must what the team has achieved is indeed the next level.   This flagship issue contains articles by Norman Foster - Foster + Partners “My Tall Buildings”, Interviews with MVRDV founders Winy Maas, Jacob van Rijs, and Nathalie de Vries  and Santiago Calatrava LLC as well as the report of the new CTBUH City Advocacy Forum comparing strategies of London, Miami, Singapore and Toronto with giants of policy Francisco García Iglesias, Lay Bee Yap, Peter Murray OBE and James Parakh and much more.  The new VERTICAL URBANISM magazine is like a hybrid of the Economist and Monocle with a focus on Future Cities and Tall Buildings. Congratulations to Francisco Javier Quintana de Uña, Will Hunter, Daniel Safarik and the whole team of editors and contributors. If you don’t have your copy yet go check it out on the CTBUH website. #CTBUH2024 #VERTICALURBANISM_Issue1 #CTBUHCAF

Friday lunchtime Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) 2024 conference at La Defence, we cheered on 17 heroes of the tall building industry riding back from Paris to London as part of the CTBUH Charity Cycle Challenge 2024! The riders doing over 500km after 4 days! of the international conference to raise funs for Bayley House, helping people with intellectual disabilities live full, rewarding lives.   Riders included many well known CTBUH leaders such as Andy Campbell from Multiplex and CTBUH Board of Trustees Member David Seel from Robert Bird Group and many more.  Sponsored by MHgetjar , @O’Neill Brennan, Multiplex, Dornan and Associated Stone Group Ltd, the group has raised over 10,000 GBP.  Please support these heroes and scan the QR code below. Good luck riders who are now ½ way back to London! #CTBUH2024CharityCycle #ParistoLondon #BayleyHouse

What a fitting closing for the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) 2024 International Conference in Paris. Amazing venue with an incredible view of the tallest building / structure in Paris the 330m La Tour Eiffel! Fantastic closing by CEO Francisco Javier Quintana de Uña and CTBUH Fellow Dienstag Ariane who was the catalyst and driver for the full Paris leg.    Great to chat through with the attendees all the great building tours around Paris today and take in the view with some old friends and the some of the Super-Star CTBUH staff who made this all happen! Jean Luc Milis, Lay Bee Yap, Bruno Juin. The 2024 CTBUH Awards Dinner is a wrap! What a fantastic evening where the Brewery was heaving with 700+ attendees honoring over 120 people and building award excellence winners.  Too many to mention but some highlights include: Congratulations to John Zils for the Fazlur Khan Lifetime Achievement Award for the incredible contribution to technical design in tall buildings. Congratulations to new CTBUH fellows Dienstag Ariane, Dennis Poon, Eric Lee, Dr Swinal Samant, Tengku Ab Aziz Tengku Mahmud, and Gil Shenhav. A highlight of the CTBUH2024 International Conference and Awards Dinner, last night I had the incredible honor of bestowing on behalf of the CTBUH, the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) highest honor, the LYNN S. BEEDLE LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD to Santiago Calatrava. Calatrava’s iconic designs—from the awe-inspiring City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, the elegance of the Alamillo Bridge, to the futuristic World Trade Center Transportation Hub in New York—have bridged the gap between form and function, creativity and precision. The structures don’t just stand, they soar. As he once said, ' Architecture is a code. It's a pure code, derived from the dimensions of nature.'  Such an incredible personal honor for me to celebrate one of my personal idols and icon of the industry that has inspired a generation of designers and engineers! #CTBUH2024 #Calatrava #LynnS.BeedleAward
