Delighted that Stanbrook Prudhoe able to play a supporting role in this important event. In addition to the other contributions the lecture made, a useful reminder that lawyers can and do improve with age. Kudos and thanks to the speaker and the Commonwealth Lawyers Association and Melinda Janki.

Here is a piece of good news! 📚Guyana is on the path to potentially establishing its own law school. The Caribbean’s Council Of Legal Education (CLE) has requested a final feasibility report from Guyana by August, with a decision expected in September. This development could significantly boost the accessibility of legal education in the region. We like this initiative, especially as we have recently expanded our operations in Guyana. The potential for a local law school is promising for the many talented lawyers in Guyana, and we are eager to see the positive impact this could have on the legal community. SAME-SEX EQUALITY ISSUES, TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS - back in court (this time in the Court of Appeal) on the intended effect of a free-standing constitutional right to equality - our clients, one an Islander, married outside of TCI. Also, the Government's challenge to the two existing and unremedied declared breaches now almost a year old of protections for (i) private and family life and (ii) freedom from discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, when a spousal work permit exemption was refused because of same-sex. The pre-action offer to avoid litigation on the basis of civil / domestic partnership legislation was repeated on page 1 of the appeal documents. Still no reply on that suggested compromise solution. After all, it has only been 3+ years. Wonderful, now fairly ancient, New Yorker magazine cartoon below for a smile on a subject with an answer so blindingly obvious. Getting there the hard way, if necessary, but getting there. Kudos to the dedicated and talented team at Stanbrook Prudhoe for staying the course of a claim it was said would never be "dared". Especially Nadia Chiesa with me in court yesterday. Difficult cases, in interesting places. In some ways, in one's own backyard is the most difficult of all locationd on issues sadly still as divisive as these. But then, why else become a lawyer...... 3 Hare Court Chambers

Giving back is important, so we’re thrilled to have recently supported Providenciales Primary & Middle School’s 2025 Scholarship Calendar 📆! Thanks to several TCI businesses, local children produced a “Brecorn” calendar inspired by the art of David M. Bird 🎨. We are pleased to share that in addition to the calendar, the school has raised enough funds to provide a partial scholarship for the year 🎓. We hope that sales of the calendar, in addition to any further donations, will raise additional funds to extend the capacity of the school’s Scholarship Programme. Those interested in donating, which will help raise valuable funds to support families across the school, should check out the July calendar page here: https://lnkd.in/dHg-9E6A. #CaribbeanLaw #Education #TurksandCaicosLawyer #CaribbeanScholarshipFund

🌟 Our Founders, Sophie Stanbrook and Tim Prudhoe were in The Bahamas earlier this week to attend two events: the 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗯𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 (hosted by INSOL International and The World Bank Group), and the 𝗜𝗡𝗦𝗢𝗟 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿. They were joined by regulators, policymakers, and judiciary members at the invitation-only event to discuss insolvency law and related developments across the region. 📜 Thank you to #INSOL, #TheWorldBank, and RISA Bahamas for organising such a successful event. 🙏 #CaribbeanLaw #Insolvency
