#CoForREST : โครงการฟื้นฟูป่าชุมชน (English below) หลังจากดำเนินโครงการมาเป็นเวลา 1 ปี เราได้นำเสนอผลลัพธ์หลักๆให้กับพันธมิตรชุมชนพร้อมแบ่งปันวิสัยทัศน์ร่วมกันและแลกเปลี่ยนข้อมูลโดยการทำแผนที่ชุมชนอย่างมีส่วนร่วม ( participatory mapping) ผลงานจากโครงการฟื้นฟูป่าชุมชนมีดังนี้.. 🌲 การฟื้นฟูป่า: การจัดตั้งเรือนเพาะชำต้นไม้ในป่าและพื้นที่ฟื้นฟูที่มีประสิทธิภาพ, การสำรวจฐานข้อมูลและการติดตามผลรายเดือน, การวิจัยเกี่ยวกับความขัดแย้งระหว่างมนุษย์และลิงมาคาก, การศึกษาวัฏจักรการออกดอกของพืช 🤝 การมีส่วนร่วมและความร่วมมือของชุมชน: จัดกิจกรรมร่วมกับชุมชนอย่างต่อเนื่องพร้อมความร่วมมือกับ Forest Restoration Research Unit (FORRU-CMU), The International Partnership for the Satoyama Initiative (IPSI) , Royal Forest Department 𖠋𖠋 การศึกษาเพื่อส่งเสริมเยาวชน: เราได้จัดโปรแกรมการศึกษาร่วมกับโรงเรียนบ้านช่องพลีเป็นหลักสูตร 16 สัปดาห์เพื่อส่งเสริมความรู้ด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมและความรู้รอบตัวอื่นๆ มีเรื่องที่น่าติดตามอีกมากมายเร็วๆ นี้!! --- #CoForREST community based forest restoration After one year of project implementation we presented this morning to our community partners the main results, outputs and outcomes so far produced.. 🌲 FOREST RESTORATION: functional forest tree nursery established, effective restoration zone, baseline surveys and monthly monitorings, research on human-macaques conflicts, and phenology studies. 🤝 COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & PARTNERSHIPS: community events, partnership with Forest Restoration Research Unit (FORRU-CMU), The International Partnership for the Satoyama Initiative (IPSI), Royal Forest Department 𖠋𖠋 YOUTH IMPACT EDUCATION: We have consolidated our youth impact education program with local Chong Pli school with a 16 weeks curriculum exploring dimensions of environmental education, human-nature reconnection and personal development. This morning we also have consolidated our common vision with participatory mapping and management plan co-design. Strengthening ownership of the project by community partners is essential for collective action sustainability. We have collectively defined the next steps which are exciting. More to come soon!!

We design transformative environmental education & transdisciplinary ecosystem restoration research for sustainability

NatureMind-Ed, as a social enterprise, leads transdisciplinary community-based biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration projects with the aim of building social-ecological resilience in Southern Thailand whereby nature and society interweave in a regenerative manner. The programmes, research projects, workshops, events and activities we lead are community-based and transdisciplinary. As such community engagement, transformative learning and participatory processes are central tenets of our projects’ implementation contributing to project outcome sustainability via increased community ownership and stewardship, contextualized social innovation towards natural resource adaptive management and diversified income sources. Transdisciplinary ecosystem restoration research implies embracing epistemological pluralism and acknowledging the multiple ways of knowing used by the myriad of actors involved in a project in order to co-design effective and sustainable solutions. Accordingly, we rely on a large portfolio of methods and tools ranging from quantitative ecology, i.e. biodiversity assessments, environmental sciences and geospatial analyses to qualitative approaches involving social sciences and humanities. The strong expertise and experience in facilitation our team has developed over the years while creating experiential education programs, provide us with strong assets to successfully implement participatory methodologies such as participatory rural appraisal, participatory mapping, natural resources calendars and many other participatory protocols. Finally one of our team’s main strength is its creative potential and genuine heart centered community partnership development approach. We use photography, film and other visual arts as well as serious games to engage with our community partners or other stakeholder in an authentic way, ensuring lasting relationship can be built and embracing our role as community resilience brokers.

The intention of The Thailand Mangrove Alliance is to foster collaboration across sectors, including government, private entities, NGOs, communities, and civil society, to ensure the sustainable conservation and restoration of mangrove forests by incorporating the complex social-ecological dynamics of coastal systems. As for any fruitful partnership to take place, it is critically important to support cross-scale, cross-institutional collaborations. This is perhaps the most difficult objective to achieve as governmental institutions and communities, among other stakeholders, have very different worldviews and immediate agendas. Extensive dialogue and forums of exchange need to be creatively set in place to allow for constant, genuine collective motion, enabling conversations, co-defining solutions, supporting accountability and transparency, ensuring empowerment of stakeholders, identifying technical capacity needs, and more. 💚 In collaboration with Blue Renaissance, Knowledge for development, Raksthai foundation, we supported the implementation of a community workshop during the main event to ensure that voices were genuinely heard. Beyond grateful to be part of the session. The creative design of this consultative community engagement session was based on the many years of field experience suggesting that embracing social and ecological complexity takes more time, but build more resilient foundations to advance sustainable mangrove restoration or conservation aligned with community livelihoods.
